Error 2200 unable to register to Advisor service

Hi

I have installed SCOM 2012 R2 and run windows update to install all the updates etc.  SCOM is setup and monitoring a number of servers without any issues.  I now want to connect it to OMS however it is still showing System centre Advisor on the Admin page.  I have read that I need to import the updated MP from "C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\Operations Manager\Server\Management Packs for Update Rollups". However when I try to import them it states that they are already imported. I have rebooted the SCOM server as well.

Do you know what I need to do to update the Admin screen so it shows OMS correctly and will allow me to connect to it.

Thanks for any help

Alert view

Hi All,

I have a custom management pack that creates alert with a specific custom field.

I would like to create two separate alert views:

1 - will display all alerts that has custom field 1 'ABC'

2 - will display all other alerts (do not contain 'ABC' under custom filed 1.)

the first one is easy to configure, but when I attempt to configure the second view I have a problem.

when I configure custom field 1 criteria to [^(ABC)] it will only display alerts that are not 'ABC' but has some string in it.

If custom field 1 is empty (Null in the database) the alerts are not displayed.

Is there any way to display custom field 1 empty\null alertscriteria?

Thanks,

Orit.

Updating agents question

Hi

When I deploy an Update Rolup for SCOM and come to updating agents, once the agents are in pending management mode, do I need to go to each managed-server and manually install the update for the agent?

I'm not quite clear what the process is here with updates on SCOM-managed servers?

Thanks!

Data Warehouse Errors followed by SQL Server Crash

$

I seem to be running into a seemingly weekly issue.

We have a SCOM instance monitoring a 100 server environment and we will recieve a load of Data Warehouse errors followed by SQL crashing due to low RAM.

We are running SQL 2008 within VMware off SAS storage and 16GB ram. Maximum memory usage in SQL set to 13GB.

Have many logs and errors to post but not sure which will be most useful.

Thanks in advance.

SCOM 2012 R2 - associate RunAs profile with custom monitor

$

Hi all,

I'm attempting to associate a RunAs profile with a custom monitor (2 state script monitor) in SCOM 2012 R2. I need to execute the monitor with a specific account because the script within the monitor opens a connection to SQL. The SQL connection is to run a simple select statement and I want to use integrated security within the SQL connection string so that I don't need to specify the credential I use in clear text.

I have tried all the suggested solution I can find on the web without success. Most of the articles suggests editing the custom MP's XML but all the examples I have found, is based on SCOM 2007 and the XML is somewhat different (importing the MP fails time and time again). I have also logged a call directly with MS, but as this is not a supported process, I was also referred back to most of the same articles that I have already worked through. I'm not a XML / MP editing expert so I don't know how to adjust the suggested values in the MP based on the new / different MP structure or tags.

Has anyone perhaps recently done what I'm trying to achieve recently? If so, please would you be so kind as share with me how you achieved this? I would be very grateful for any assistance!

Thank you,

Albert

"Expand all" in SCOM distributed application?

$

Hey All,

Question, I've been dealing with distributed apps for a while now. I would love if there way a way I could open one in a hierarchy view and click a button that expanded all layers of the hierarchy rather than spending 20 minutes expanding each object or group (so I can export to Visio). Does anyone know if that's somehow possible?

Thanks!

Adding additional fields to the SCOM 2012 R2 VISIO Add-In

Hi everyone,

My configuration is SCOM 2012 R2 CU9 / SQL 2008 R2, Visio 2016, Microsoft Visio 2010 and SharePoint 2010 Extensions for System Center 2012 with the fix applied:
https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/chhopkin/2012/02/01/data-graphics-not-being-displayed-for-diagrams-configured-for-the-scom-add-in/

Using the AD Server 2008 Discovery class MP, I've added and linked DNS, NTDS, KDC, Netlogon, win32Time, SysVOL to a data graphic icon using an icon set to display the health status of each ADDS component, where the data field is ={Health State}&{Is Available}&{In Maintenance}&{Managed}

I'm using the VISIO template below to do this:
https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/systemcenterramblings/2014/10/31/scom-creating-a-visio-dashboard-and-publishing-to-sharepoint/

There are several fields available on the SCOM Add-In: e.g. class, display name, health state, in maintance, is available, last refresh, managed, object ID etc

Question: Is it possible to extend the Add-In fields so I can add new items like the IP/serial/NIC IPs etc to the VISIO diagram for each object?

Thanks.

I would like to extend it to place maint mode for multiple monitors.

Can i use the "monitor","monitor1","monitor2" in the script to place multiple monitors into maintenance mode?

Hi,

I have a couple of questions.

1. How can I get a list of all my Network devices under monitoring in SCOM 07?

2. I need to change the Alert Names for a bunch of monitors that follow a specific naming convention, any way to automate this process?

Thanks!

User Roles - Seeing certain objects of a group

Hey guys,

I have a user role that is limited to seeing certain views. The views target a specific group, but I don't want the user to see all the objects in a group. I want to be able to select which object the user can see. Is this possible? The end goal is to have multiple user roles that allow each user to see different objects from the group.

Thanks

Gary

Tens MOMPerfSnapshotHelper.exe running on Win Srv 2008 SP2

$

Hi all!

I am experiencing for the first time this issue:
On a Win Srv 2008 SP2 I can see around 30 MOMPerfSnapshotHelper.exe processes running. Each one allocates from 1% to 3% of CPU. The total average is 60%. This is bad because allocates the greatest part of a opta-core server.
I stopped the SCOM 2012 SP1 Agent, cleaned the "Health Service State\Health Service Store" folder and also "Health Service State\Management Packs". None of the MOMPerfSnapshotHelper.exe has been closed. Of course then I started the Agent.
I read the KB https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2812950 but on the Win Srv 2008 SP2 there is NOT Microsoft SharePoint 2010 installed (actually there is not Microsoft SharePoint at all and of any versione) therefore I did not installed the patch.
I also tried to search for some other useful article about my issue but none of them is applicable (e.g.: related to SCE, etc.)

This thread https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/f9edf415-1fe1-498d-8cf3-3103d4751c59/monitoringhostexe-high-cpu-usage-on-scom-r2?forum=operationsmanagergeneral does not help because is says "high CPU usage (98-99%) for MonitoringHost.exe" not "low CPU usage (1-3%) for several MonitoringHost.exe"

Have you some suggestion? Do you suggest to apply the patch of KB https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2812950 also if not having Share Point installed?

Than you for your help

Elizabeth

Hi!

I want to use dynamic SCOM groups and add them to DAs, in this way I can create DAs that is dynamics. But the SCOM groups disappears from the SCOM Authoring/Groups view. When I remove the groups from the DA the groupsreappears again.

Why disappears the groups?

Best way to monitor a server that is down and then back up.

$

First off, I am new to OM.

SCOM 2012 R2.

Right now I see an alert when a domain controller goes down.  (The Domain Controller has been stopped) and I get that alert as an e-mail as well.

What I want is to get an alert when the domain controller comes back up.   Since this is a rule in the Active Alerts, even when the DC comes back online, I don't know unless I look and it doesn't close until I manually close it. (Then I get the alert saying it was closed).

I am used to Solar Winds where when the DC goes down I get an alert saying it is down and when it comes back up I get an alert that it came back up.

What is the best way to monitor domain controllers or specific servers to see when they go down and then back up?

Thanks,

Kevin
