Microsoft SCOM 2016 Web Console: "500 - Internal Server Error"

$

Hi All,

Everytime I launch SCOM 2016 Web console(from anywhere) using syntax http://servername/OperationsManager I get a 500 - Internal Server Error.

If I then login to SCOM server hosting Web Server role and launch SCOM 2016 Web console using syntaxhttp://localhost/OperationsManager it will open. If I then go back to my previous SCOM 2016 Web console and use syntaxhttp://servername/OperationsManager it will now open.

I've followed the SCOM documentation verbatim. I also have made changes as suggested in below blog, however no success yet:

BUG in Microsoft SCOM 2016 Web Console: "500 - Internal Server Error" !!!! SOLVED !!!!

Any help or pointers would be appreciated?

Thanks, Harry :-)

Agent migratıon from SCOM 2012 to SCOM 2016

Hi,

we have an old SOCM infrastructure under SCOM 2012 and a new one under SCOM 2016.

I will take alll agents from SCOM 2012 to SCOM 2016 without any monitoring data (rules/monitors/overrides, etc.). I tested the following way:

- Install the agents in SCOM 2016 without to uninstall these agents in SCOM 2012

RESULTS:

- some agents are uninstalled automatically in SCOM 2012. That is also good so!

- some agents stayed in SCOM 2012. I have to uninstall these agents explicitly in SCOM 2012. BUT these agents try to connect still to SCOM 2012 management servers. These requests are logged as follow:

Date 06.03.2018 14:36:44
Log Windows NT (Operations Manager)

Source OpsMgr Connector
Category (0)
Event 20070
Computer	<AGENT COMPUTER>

Message
The OpsMgr Connector connected to <SCOM2012 MANAGEMNT SERVER>, but the connection was closed immediately after authentication occurred. The most likely cause of this error is that the agent is not authorized to communicate with the server, or the server has not received configuration. Check the event log on the server for the presence of 20000 events, indicating that agents which are not approved are attempting to connect.

Date 06.03.2018 14:21:17
Log Windows NT (Operations Manager)

Source OpsMgr Connector
Category (0)
Event 21016
Computer	<AGENT COMPUTER>

Message
OpsMgr was unable to set up a communications channel to <SCOM2012 MANAGEMENT SERVER> and there are no failover hosts. Communication will resume when <SCOM2012 MANAGEMENT SERVER> is available and communication from this computer is allowed.

My questions:

- how can I solve this issue for multiple agents. Is ist enough to flush (empty) "Monitoring Agent" folders on these agents, or I must uninstall and reinstall these agents in SCOM 2016?

- what is the best process for the agent migration?

- Is there any powershell script so that I can migrate agents (without any monitoring data) from SCOM 2012 to SCOM 2016?

Best Regards

Birdal

Uninstalling MMA

Hello Team,

In my previous firm i use to deal with certain TASK's of agents deletion and installation.Following process was being followed by me:

method_1

Take the RDP of the server

Go to appwiz.cpl>Uninstall MMA and then log off the server

Then go back to SCOM Console and follow these steps

Administration>Agent Managed>Delete

method_2:

But in my new firm as per the technical discussion we have to only click Administration>Agent Managed>uninstall

So which of the method is right?for my opinion the first method_1 is appropriate

I guess if we do not delete the setup form the server on which MMA was installed for monitoring purpose and from which MMA has to be deleted will it be impact the server in a certain possible way anyway except just showing the MMA entry and occupying some memory

DMZ server monitoring in SCOM 2012

Hi,

We are having 2 DMZ servers(Exchange edge server) monitored in SCOM. Recently we have observed Failed to connect and Heartbeat failure alerts from both servers in SCOM. However while trying to ping the servers from SCOM server its reachable, but ping is not working from application.

I have tried to repair and uninstall the agent, but I am getting RPC server unavailable(Error Code: 800706BA) error in both cases. All RPC ports are opened in the firewall between SCOM sever and DMZ servers. I have checked the server and found that SCOM agent is in running state.

Can some one help me to find out what can be the possible reason for the alerts.

ADFS monitoring issues

Hi,

I have around 10 ADFS servers in my infrastructure. Requirement has come to monitor the ADFS from SCOM and all of them are running windows server 2008 R2 and ADFS 2.0.

I installed SC Management Pack for ADFS 2.0 version 7.0.8560.0 in my SCOM 2012R2 environment. However, I'm unable to see any of my servers in Monitoring-->ADFS directory. All my ADFS servers are running with window monitors and rules without any issue. But ADFS monitoring is not happening.

I'm ended up with no clue on this. Can someone help on this.

Thanks,

Agent issue - pending install

Hi All,

Spent alot of time looking at this issue and getting no where, so looking for some guidance please.

Setup (brief): Scom management server > Scom gateway (client) > scom agents (client)

Current: Multiple servers are talking successfully to SCOM gateway (no certificates used) but one of these stopped working.

Issue: Reinstalled Agent but it gets stuck pending in SCOM management server. No errors reported on MS or GW. Only error listed on end server which include event id 20057, 21001 and 21016.

error breakdown: The error returned is 0x80090303(The specified target is unknown or unreachable).  mutual authentication failed.  Verify the SPN is properly registered on the server and that, if the server is in a separate domain, there is a full-trust relationship between the two domains. Communication will resume when "GW" is available and communication from this computer is allowed.

Investigation: Most everything I have come across say this is an issue around the SPN's. However the SPN referenced is for the GW server and only GW server has registered SPN's in AD. Other servers are successfully talking into the GW and through it to MS, so this clearly is not issue. Communication to the GW from this affected server is successful, as is DNS. Port connection to GW is open from this server. Nothing being blocked via firewalls/network.

This has installed SCOM agent 8.0.13053.0 (other servers still working are on older ones v7). I have tried completely uninstall, remove folder (registry keys do not exist post uninstall). Then pushed it out again via Discovery wizard. Still stuck pending install and same event ids on local server.

Any thoughts?

Alert: Alert subscription data source module encountered errors while running.

Good Afternoon,

I am trying to narrow down the cause of this alert in OpsMgr 2012 R2 UR14:

Name:

Alert subscription data source module encountered errors while running

Description:

Alert subscription data source module encountered errors while running: Alert subscription data source module was unable to find alerts that match the subscription because of database errors.

The following error(s) were encountered:

Exception Message: ExecuteScalar requires an open and available Connection. The connection's current state is closed.

One or more workflows were affected by this.

Workflow name: Subscription45db8948_6f77_4308_92b8_2fbd3cec181d

Instance name: Alert Notification Subscription Server

Instance ID: {E07E3FAB-53BC-BC14-1634-5A6E949F9230}

Management group: SCOM-MG01

What I have done thus far:

I have looked at the subscription in the workflow and have found nothing I can find as an error.  The alert does send email alerts, it does function.

It seems to effect all of my subscriptions at no particular interval.  The database is not stated in the alert but I checked both of the databases (OpsMgr & DW) for errors but I do not see any that stand out.

What other people are saying is there could be some performance issue, but I don't see any performance related alerts for the database or the server...

The Management Group Functions (4) are all green as are the Management Group Infrastructure (5) but the alerts persist.

I wish I could locate exactly what the error is and how to diagnose/replicate it but I just don't know where to look. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

cshost.exe taking a lot of CPU

Hey guys, need your help with this.

For some reason the cshost.exe on my demo MS has suddenly shot up so high around 80+% and it's causing my CPU to constantly choke at 99-100%. I don't see any particular reason to it and nothing much interesting in event viewer either.

Thoughts?

Cheers

SCOM agent installs but cant communicate back to SCOM server

$

We recently move a machine from one domain (DOMAIN1) into another domain (DOMAIN2).   The machine was being monitored while in the DOMAIN1 domain.  AFter the move of course it was not monitoring properly.  So we removed the older DOMAIN1 entry in SCOM and rediscovered the machine in the DOMAIN2 domain and it does not what to show up as being monitored in SCOM.

In the machines event logs I see the following 2 errors.

OpsMgr was unable to set up a communications channel to SCOMmgmtServer.DOMAIN2.LOCAL and there are no failover hosts.  Communication will resume when SCOMmgmtServer.DOMAIN2.LOCAL is available and communication from this computer is allowed.

also

The OpsMgr Connector connected to SCOMmgmtServer.DOMAIN2.LOCALL, but the connection was closed immediately after authentication occurred.  The most likely cause of this error is that the agent is not authorized to communicate with the server, or the server has not received configuration.  Check the event log on the server for the presence of 20000 events, indicating that agents which are not approved are attempting to connect.

I tried to uninstall the agent and remove from SCOM and rediscover but that didnt work.   The machine does not show up in Pending management either.

The DOMAIN2 and DOMAIN1 domains have complete trust and port 5723 is open.

Any ideas on what to check for?

Thanks Lance

Event ID 102 - Couldn't load OperationsManager SnapIn. Terminating now. on SCOM 2012 R2 Management server.

Hi All,

I noticed Event ID 102 - Couldn't load OperationsManager SnapIn. Terminating now. on our SCOM 2012 R2 Management server.

I tried manually entering the commandlet "Add-PSSnapin "Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.OperationsManager.Client" as i see the event was being generated from a Exchange 2013 MP's Script as it is trying to import this module

function ConnectToOpsMgr() {
Add-PSSnapin"Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.OperationsManager.Client" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue
try {
Set-Location"OperationsManagerMonitoring::" -ErrorAction Stop
}catch [System.Management.Automation.ProviderNotFoundException]

When i enter Add-PSSnapin "Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.OperationsManager.Client i get the below error:

This error is appearing on 2 Management servers out of 3.

Any idea how to fix this ?

SCOM 2016 Migration from on-premises to Azure Cloud as IaaS

$

Hi All,

We are using SCOM 2016 and planning to migrate SCOM servers from on-premises to Azure cloud as IaaS. We are monitoring windows servers, UNIX/Linux servers, Network devices, NetApp Storage etc using SCOM.

As per my understanding, I can either go for : -

1) Side by Side Migration

2) Lift and Shift

Seeking for any related article/document for the same or any other possible approach.

DAL QueryNotificationManager process causing high SQL waits.

$

Hello,

I've recently noticed the following constant process with high wait time on my SQL server instance hosting my Operations Manager database -

Database:  OperationsManager

Task State:  SUSPENDED

Command Type:  DELETE

Application:  SC DAL--DAL QueryNotificationManager

Wait Time (ms):  12090

Wait Type:  BROKER_RECEIVE_WAITFOR

Could someone please provide some insight into this? The high wait time is causing high average waits which result in unwanted alerts from the SQL Server MP. Is this expected behavior?

How to update email notification content with resolved state or value for closed alerts

$

I am looking for a better way to update the email notification content with resolved state or value for closed alerts. An example is the alerts from Windows Server 2012 Logical Disk Free Space (%) Low monitor which is one of child monitors of Windows Server 2012 Logical Disk - Free Space Rollup Monitor. Let's say that the percentage of free space for D: drive hit 10% threshold and the warning alert was generated. I then received the notification via email saying that the value that exceeded the threshold is 8% free space. This information is derived from the alert description of the monitor (the value that exceeded the threshold is $Data/Context/SampleValue$% free space) and the alert description is picked by email notification channel's format setting. After the drive was cleaned up, the percentage of the free space was improved to 15% and the alert was closed in SCOM. In this scenario, if I use the same email channel for closed alerts, I would get the same alert description (8% free space) in the email message for the closed alert. To display the updated percentage value (15% in this case), I wrote a simple PowerShell script that queries the closed alerts from the Logical Disk Free Space Monitor and updates the custom filed 10 with the updated percentage from the alert context. I then created another email channel to pick the custom field 10 and created another subscription for the closed alerts (filtered by the value in custom field 10). After that, I was able to get the closed alerts with the resolved percentage and message (OK: Percentage of free space improved to 15% from 8%). However, I don't think this is a smart approach. How should I update the email notification content with resolved state/value for closed alerts in SCOM?

SCOM 1801/1807 and SharePoint 2016 and &disabletree=true

Has anyone ever gotten the "&disabletree=true" option as documented [HERE] to work with SCOM 1801/1807 and SharePoint 2016?

Seems pretty straight forward, but we have never been able to get it to work under SCOM 1801 or 1807.

Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advanced
