Hey guru's,
I'm very new SCOM! I've just rolled out SCOM within our infrastructure and I'm working
slowly to tailor our environment. I've only introduced one management pack
(Operating Systems MP) and I'm just getting to grips with creating alerts /
subscriptions! So far I'm very impressed! The one bug-bear I do have though is
that I've created a subscription for every alert and warning that then triggers
an email. I'm finding that some of the alerts are just being repeated as the
issue is intermittent. For instance, an alert might be triggered as a system
has low available RAM... this opens an alert (sending an email indicating so)
and then 2 minutes later the RAM usage will drop back below the trigger
"level" and then the alert/ticket is automatically closed and another
email is sent indicating so - CLOSED. As this is intermittent this is
generating a lot of emails over the course of the day. The obvious answer is
RESOLVE THE ISSUE! :) To be honest, I'd prefer it if SCOM DIDN't automatically
close the alert once the trigger had passed - it would be better if I could
receive one alert (email) when the issue occurs and then have SCOM just log how
many times this has occurred rather than keep bombarding me with emails stating
ALERT - OK/CLOSED - ALERT - OK/CLOSED - ALERT - OK/CLOSED.
Is this possible gents? If so how would I accomplish this (bearing in mind SCOM is
quite alien to me)?
Many thanks for anyone who took the time to read my post.
