Virtual NIC attached to physical NIC not being monitored

Background: 2 physical machines running 2012 R2 and Hyper-V with a single NIC in each.

OpsMgr is 2012 R2 with the following packs:- Operating System v.6.0.7061.0 and Hyper-V 2012 v7.1.10104.0

The problem is that when Hyper-V was installed a new virtual NIC was added to each, the physical NIC was left enabled but all the settings were transferred to the virtual one and they were attached to the virtual switch.
Although the host itself is running several virtual machines and OpsMgr is picking up the virtual NICs and IP addresses it's not doing it for the host machine.

The knock on effect of this is that if I open the Network Vicinity dashboard for example I can see all my virtual nodes attached to a switch but the actual physical host is missing because the NIC is not being monitored.
Under Microsoft Windows Server all the IP addresses are listed and green, however if I drill into Health Monitoring -> Network Adapter Health the physical NICs (which have no IP address) are there but not the virtual (which have the IP).

The physical NIC is still enabled but all the IP settings were removed and the Hyper-V extensible virtual switch enabled against it. The virtual NIC has all the IP settings ticked and the address applied.
The status on the main page shows it as the domain connection.

Anyone know how I can rectify this?

Thanks
