Email Notifications using SCOM 2012 R2

Hi

I have to configure alerts notifications using "smtp channel" but the problem is the customer has Microsoft Exchange environment and  Linux Exhange server where smtp is configured on Linux exchange. I am not getting the logic how to configure smtp channel. How to create a notification account and how it will authenticate smtp channel on linux server.

Please suggest what needs to do and brief me how it works.

Any help would be really appreciated..
