OpsMgr string property length limit

DA,

I noticed that in the OpsMgr authoring console i cannot set the length of a string attribute to more then 255. But this limit seems applicable to all types i choose so for me it looks like just a limitation in the Authoring console GUI. 

Could someone please confirm what the actual string size limit is for a string property of a class in SCOM R2?
