Hello
Can someone please help me with the following question.
We are implementing SCOM 2012 (currently using SCOM 2007 R2)
with 2007 R2 the RMS delivers the MP to the agents via the configuration service, the agents run the 'workflows' in the case of agent based (not agentless) based monitoring. The RMS is responsible for workflows like group calculations, notifications, Health Aggregation (by the SDK/DAS I believe), Availability, etc.
But the actual workflows as in the discoveries and monitor scripts etc. run on the agents out there on the agent managed computers.
So when reading the SCOM 2012 documentation and it speaks about "MS2 will take over the workflows if MS1 should fail" which workflows do they mean exactly?
For example as far as I am aware the agent out on the computer has no concept of "resource pools" rather it has a list of "MS" it primary and all the others (if installed via push from the SCOM console) and therefore the agent will just report in to another MS on the list it holds in its registry (in the case of a Windows computer) should its primary MS go offline.
With that in mind I am thinking when is says "MS2 will take over the workflows if MS1 should fail" it cannot be related to the workflows running on the agent in any way (or can it) therefore can someone please clarify for me which 'workflows' run on the MS in 2012 and therefore which can moved if one of the MS should fail.
Thank you very much
