Lately I've this issue in our production SCOM SP1 environment. When a server goes down, it doesn't send a server down alert. Only after the issue is manually notified by users, we come to know that server was down. We have to reboot the server and we get a server restart alert.
On investigating I found these two monitores Computer Not Reachable and Ping Status which are enabled. Heartbeat Monitoring has been disabled for all agents as we were facing some noisy notifications and the administrators were fed up.
I would like to mention that we do get notified from the Ping Status monitor everytime a ping expires. Generally a couple of times a day. But we do not get notified if the server is down for hours by the Computer Not Reachable monitor. All other alerting are fine.
Any help would be deeplu appreciated.
