scom 2012 r2 parameter questions.

with scom 2012 r2 do you still have to use the following format when doing the parameters for snmp monitor.

/DataItem/SnmpVarBinds/SnmpVarBind[1]/Value

Please tell me that's not true, even nagios has this done right. Its true if you have something that is a certified snmp device then things are good but otherwise this is a nightmare.  Hopefully I'm missing something here.
