Web Application Availability Test: The URL probe returned error code 80072F78. Reason: 0x80072f78

Hi all,

I've got an issue I can't find much information about.  I can reproduce the same issue on 2 different SCOM environments that are unrelated, so I presume the issue is with the site I am doing availability checking on, but how to further diagnose the issue is where I need help.

I am using SCOM 2012 R2 with UR2, to monitor a public facing internet website (www.sunsuper.com.au).  When I monitor this site through WEB APPLICATION AVAILABILITY MONITORING, I get the following error when trying to run a test.

The URL probe returned error code 80072F78. Reason: 0x80072f78

When trying to run a WEB APPLICATION TRANSACTION MONITOR, I get the following error.

Run with errors: Failed Error Code check.  ErrorCode: 2147954552 - 0x80072f78

From what I can gather, these error codes mean ERROR_WINHTTP_INVALID_SERVER_RESPONSE.

These errors don't give much information and the RAW data tells me basically nothing.  I get the same error when monitoring this website from the internal customer management servers, as well as my home SCOM lab which is on an open ADSL connection.

Note that both on the customer site, and at home in my lab I can access the web page just fine and it loads.  We can also monitor other web pages without any problem (internal intranet sites, other public sites like bing.com or google.com etc).

I am fairly certain the issue is with this site itself, but before I can go to someone to tell them what to fix, I need to understand what's causing this issue.

Can anybody offer some advice?
