Hi All,
I've read quite a bit of documentation around upgrading from SCOM 2012 Sp1 to R2. All of them describes standard upgrade path. The issue we are having is we have multiple gateway in many different environment. each environment require their own approval and test to upgrade agents.(e.g. update on dev server, next week upgrade 5 agents, a week after that 10 agents.)
My understanding is that the management server is not backwards compatible. SP1 agents will not work on R2 management server, however R2 agents will "talk to" SP1 management server.
As the approval process is quite complex, it will be impossible for us to upgrade all agents in one go across all domains.
The two questions that I have are;
a.) R2 agents will communicate with SP1 Management Server, what are the limitations? Windows, and all flavours of Unix and Linux.
b.) Can SCOM function normally, if I upgrade management server and not upgrade gateway server immediately? If I do it this way, will I be able to run SP1 agents that reports to SP1 gateway?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Leor
