Hi,
I am currently working on the performance of our SQL server that runs our operations manager and OM data warehouse.
This is partly because I am having SCOM performance problems but also because I want to monitor changes to SQL after each new management pack is added etc.
I am interested in two counters and why they are doing something in particular - Avg. Disk sec/Read and /Write.
My writes seem to be flatlining at pretty much nothing which I presume is good. My reads however seem to be averaging above 10 and sometimes peaking higher which again I dont think is "bad" as far as performance goes.
What I dont really understand is given that I would expect SCOM to be constantly writing data to the OM and DW databases why this would be topped by the read counter? Hardly anyone uses reporting for instance I dont think.
Thanks
