Map Dashboard WITHOUT using Web Application Availability Monitoring

Hi All,

I have created a Map dashboard in SCOM 2012 R2 referring to Marcin's blog. As the health of the locations is measured using "Web Application Availability Monitoring" it is based on the URL set, when the server is down or for some reason it is not accessible, the map turns with red pointer, but I have SQL server installed on that server, and I want to make the icon to turn red when there's any wrong with my SQL server, which is not ideally happening because of watcher node monitoring only the URL (http://localhost) - Can anyone please guide me how to create such Map based dashboard which can reflect the health of any application installed on the server, be it, SQL server or IIS or any other....

http://blogs.technet.com/b/marcin_jastrzebski/archive/2012/05/21/map-dashboard-in-sc-2012-operations-manager.aspx

I am actually looking out for a procedure to create Summary Dashboard-Map, without using Web availability monitoring. Any help is highly appreciated
