Why are my SQL Server 2014 DB Engine objects not also discovered as SQL DB Engine objects?

Hi OpsMgr gurus

When I discover SQL Server 2014 DB Engine objects (SQL database instances of version 2014) the same instances cannot be found asSQL DB Engine objects, which should hold all SQL database instances right? Why can that be?

We have several windows servers running SQL server 2012 and 2014 side by side. With numerous instances of each version.

I see this issue in both our management groups, and on several database servers.

I see the issue on System Center 2012 R2 Operations Manager UR3 Update Patch.
