Setting up a Management Server in SCOM 2012

I am at the point right now where I have to add a Management Server to an existing management group and I'm having troubles.

Where it asks for the server name and instance name, I am putting in the correct information but it always comes back with the error of "This SQL server could not be found. Please check that this SQL server is running and that the current user has login permissions."

- The SQL server can resolve the full FQDN and vice-versa (they both can ping each other).
- The SQL service is running on the server.
- The profile I'm working on with the server I'm trying to install on is logged in as the local Admin of the box.
- The MS tech I was on the phone with last night checked the SQL tables, there are no other instances or "traces" of this server within the tables.
- It's not working with certificates yet (although they are setup and ready).

Also, just for giggles I set the same server up as a Gateway just to see if it was anything else and I was able to see it in the SCOM console in pending management.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!
