As we don't have plan to migrate to SCOM 2012 soon, I need to adjust the current SCOM 2007 architecture to allow us to continue the monitoring for 12-24 months.
The current configuration is usually over the best practice http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=23016
but monitors are having more and more difficulties to close by themselves, alerts are delayed (5 minutes at least), the console is showing 1,000 + alerts every morning, ...

Which advice could you give me to upgrade servers (Adding RAM, Disk, etc...), adding Management Server, changing something in the actual architecture to allow an increase of 25% of servers..., printers, ...

Does a separate instancae on the SQL cluster will help? (actually OperationManager DB share the default instance of the enterprise SQL cluster with 25 other DBs... (RAM 30 GB)???
