I get an alert even though my simple threshold was not actually reached?

Hi,

I just setup a real quick performance counter to see if a process reached (and I presume this is in bytes in the threshold value) - 600000000. However the alert came up and checking the state change events was triggered at 533323776. It then closed the alert at under threshold at 533221376?

Is this normal is my logic completely wrong here??
