I am struggling with the ability to have only the Router in a specific site alert if an entire site is down for some reason, such as power is lost. For example, we have 50 servers and switches, etc in site X. Site X has a bad storm and
looses power longer than our battery backup lasts, now we get 50 alerts of systems down (plus all the alerts of services, monitors, disks, etc), plus all the alerts when these systems are up again. Another scenario would be the WAN is saturated
for one reason or another, causing alerts for all these various systems when they can't communicate back to the Management Server. Is there a way to make all those other alerts dependent on the ability to ping the router to avoid the unnecessary alerts
or some form of that which would alleviate this issue? WUG has this capability, but I have not been able to figure out how to do this in SCOM 2012. Please advise and thanks for your assistance in advance.
