Hi,

SCOM 2007 R2: I want to restart  healthservice on agents using recovery task which should be in monitor "Health Service Unloaded System Rule(s)"  when SCOM rule is unloading. I have tried both command line and script. But nothing is working. Actually SCOM RMS service is going down when this recovery task is running by script.

Please help me to accomplish this requirement. Is it possible to create recovery task same like task "Restart HealthService" which is part of monitor "Health Service Heartbeat Failure"

I recently upgraded my SystemCenter suite from 2012 SP1 to R2.
My servers/products are currently on this level :

SCVMM 2012 R2 CU2 – Windows 2012 R2 update
SCDPM2012 R2 CU2 – Windows 2008 R2 SP1
SCOM2012 R2 CU2 – Windows 2008 R2 SP1
SCSM2012 R2 CU2 – Windows 2008 R2 SP1
SCSM2012 Datawarehouse R2 CU2 – Windows 2008 R2 SP1

I would like to upgrade my OS on those servers also, can I do this without further pre-tasks or are there special actions requered ?
Target is getting all of the servers to Windows 2012 R2 Update…

I just setup a SCOM 2012 gateway server in our acceptance domain but I keep getting this error in my event viewer:

The Health Service could not log on the RunAs account "DOMAIN ACCOUNT" for management group "MANAGEMENT GROUP".  The error is Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.(1326L).  This will prevent the health service from monitoring or performing actions using this RunAs account

But my gateway server is in an acceptance domain and the runas account he is trying to use is in our production domain. So it is logical that he cannot access this account. What to do? Can I change this account or can I setup multiple runas accounts for multiple domains?

Hi all,

i have the problem in a brand new SCOM 2012 R2 Installation every Tasks that I execute (like DCDIAG for AD or Site Discovery for SCCM) is being executed with the System Center Data Access Service Account (here "scdac") from SCOM. Also if i define another specific RunAs Account like the "scadmin" (Domain Admin) Account. Its very strange because the System Center Data Access Account isn't defined in any way as an Account in the SCOM Console by default. Here are some screenhots:

I am trying to get to the bottom of something “strange” that I came across today. We do our SLA’s based on SCOM agent (watcher) health so when I get the daily report and see something in unplanned maintenance mode it stands out.

Looking on the SCOM management console I noticed that two servers where in unplanned maintenance mode with no comments filled in (the admins are supposed to put something in) and with 450 minutes of MM still to run.

The 2 servers involved had in fact had power cuts the previous day and come back up a couple of minutes later. However everybody has said they didn’t put the servers into MM.

What is strange also is that if I look in the Operations Manager event log on both servers I can’t find any reference to event 1215 which would show to me the MS has told the server to go into MM anyway. This is the same on both the servers.

Any thoughts?

Hi, I have a request to monitor the number of messages in an SMTP queue on a SharePoint server.

Apparently they have decided that if the queue gets to 50 “something is wrong”

This is a Windows 2003 server with IIS6 installed.

I am using “Management Pack Viewer” to look at the components that make up the IIS MP. I don’t seem to be able to see anything that refers to an actual queue length – there is stuff about bytes sent/received and inbound connections but I am not sure if this is the same thing?

Hello,

I would require to upgrade the SCOM 2012 agents to SCOM 2012 SP1 on manually installed AIX 6.1 servers. I need the step by step instruction to install and discover the AIX 6.1 server.

Hi,we installed the scom 2012 r2 and used the scom das (data access service) account also for the data reader and data writer account. But unfortunately we have to change this (security reasons) and we have to use separate accounts for data reader and data writer. I found the information how to change the credentials on the net and which permissions are required for the 2 accounts. First I changed the Data Reader Account credentials with success, but when I change the Data writer account I get many Scom Alerts... e.g. SQL Exception: Management Group with id .... is not allowed to access Data Warehouse under login "domain\NewAccount"       Instance: Data Warehouse Synchronisation Service...but there are many errors more...what did I wrong? Is there a step by step guide for changing the account credentials available? I also need the information which permissions I can remove from the scom das account when this account is not longer used for data reader and data writer :)

Hi Everybody,

Just looking for a few thoughts on an issue I've had today and a couple of times in the past.

We are running SCOM 2012 and use dynamic groups based on name to send notifications to the right people. Today we had a critical alert however when looking at the group members the health state for the server was only at warning level and a notification was not sent.

The critical alert was that the server was not contactable, other notifications do however seem to work.

Am I just missing something simple here?

Edit - All other health status' match the alerts states and now that the critical issue is resolved the health state matches at a warning level.

Hallo,

I am using SCOM 2012 SP1 UR6. And since yesterday I have a problem.

The monitor "Data Warehouse Managed Object Type Synchronization Data Reader Recovery State" is in a critical state.

Every 10min I am getting the 31555 Event ID in OperationsManager log with below description:

Failed to generate data to be forwarded to the Data Warehouse. The operation will be retried.
Exception 'ArgumentOutOfRangeException': Specified argument was out of the range of valid values.
Parameter name: dataItems

One or more workflows were affected by this.  

Workflow name: Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Synchronization.MaintenanceMode
Instance name: 2ebbd24d-860a-433c-8c00-a8d57c1980af
Instance ID: {761FD899-1362-9165-0693-673E4B827E3C}

I have 10 SCOM servers (WS2008-20012), but this event is generated only on 4 of them. All servers are patched with latest updates.

Hi Team,

I am testing Agentless Exception Monitoring on SCOM 2007 R2 using Window 7 Ent SP1 as client to monitor un Test Lab environment. I have configured everthing and simuated crash on Window 7 client using AccVio.exe, AEMValidation tools but none of the logs are reaching to SCOM server. Also I am unbale to locate the logs on the SCOM Server web console.

I can do successful port query on server port 51906 and 51907 from Windows 7 client. Also Windows firewall is also turned off on win 7 client. The AEM wizard run without any error and I got ADM template file which I imported into GPMC and policy is applied correctly to Win 7 Client. Same has been confirmed by running RSOP.

Where should I check primarily for troubleshooting ?

After following the instructions from Install the Visio 2010 add-in and try fixing the issue with scom-2012-visio-integration-add-in-not and still have no luck.

I have uninstalled both visio 2010 and ops management console from my workstation and tried a fresh install multiple times (4) with the same error.

An exception occurred while calling function "GetEnabled". The exception message is: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Any ideas on my issue? I wasn't able to located anything useful from search engines on the exception error "GetEnabled" and visio and operations manager.

Hi All,

I have my SCOM in Domain A. I need to monitor transaction on a URL which is hosted in Domain B and can be access only through Domain B. I have a SCOM Gateway server in Domain B.

I have created a Web Synthetic Transaction Monitor in My SCOM with Watcher Node as the Gateway server in Domain B to record the transactions on the URL that is accessible only from Domain B and not domain A.

When I run the Test after creating the Transaction Monitor I get the result as Error Code 403 (Forbidden Access).

Can anyone please let me know how can I achieve a successful monitoring in this scenario. Do I need to use an Authentication method?

Hi Guys,

Not sure what broke here but this morning I had no issues launching my SCOM powershell console. While I was working on a script it look to have broke. I opened up a new console and I got this:

I have checked the a number of blog posts about this issue and nothing I found has been able to resolve this.

What I have done is:

• Restarted Computer ;)
• Checked the shortcut and verify that the correct "Target" and "Start in" fields are correct.
• I have repaired the SCOM console install
• I have uninstalled and re installed the SCOM console and restarted the computer
• I have checked the system Environment Variables for Path and PSModulePath all look ok.
• Tried a system restore but it failed.

Not sure what else to check.

Can you monitor the following three hyper-v services in SCOM or is the MP required?

Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management
Hyper-V Networking Management Service
Hyper-V Image Management Service

In the last month, sometimes i've the problem, that the operations manager console can't find objects; shows some alerts as acitve alerts, but they're closed.

It could be solved by using the ClearCache argument, when i starts the console.

It's reasonable to start the console always with ClearCache option? --or i've have some handicaps, when i do so?
