Greetings,
I am running SCOM 2012 on Windows Server 2012 R2 with a local SSRS install. Both SCOM and SSRS are pointing to a different SQL server, which is SQL 2012 also running on Server 2012 R2. There were no signs of errors or issues during the install
of SCOM, and it all appears to work fine as the operations manager console comes up without an issue.
The issue first shows it's ugly head when you attempt to discover computers. If I attempt to discover a Windows system, after providing credentials, I receive the following error message.
** The pool managing the instance is not available or the location monitoring the object cannot be found.
If I try and discover a Unix/Linux system, I get the following error.
** Unable to enumerate Installable agent types. The associated resource pool may still be initializing. If you had selected a newly created resources pool, please wait a few minutes before using it.
For the sake of clarity I have been fighting this a couple days, so the few minutes are up.
Add to this I have two Operations Manager errors showing in the event logs that may be of assistance.
** OpsMgr Management Configuration Service failed to execute bootstrap work item 'ConfigurationDataProviderInitializeWorkItem' due to the following exception
** An exception was thrown while processing LaunchDiscovery for session ID uuid:b31b5351-390a-4b7c-b639-1ca02b22ad46;id=2.
Exception message: The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason.
Full Exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.LocationObjectNotFoundException]: The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason. (Fault Detail is equal to Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.LocationObjectNotFoundException:
The pool managing the instance is not available or the location monitoring object cannot be found.).
Before I ever setup this server, I had initially setup a test server where SCOM and SQL were on the same server and it did not have any issues. I am guessing this is somehow related to the separation of SCOM and SQL and possibly SSRS. That being
said I can see all the databases that were created on the SQL server which includes the reporting server's database.
Any thoughts, advice, or perhaps a sign point to the clue train would be greatly appreciated.
