DAL QueryNotificationManager process causing high SQL waits.

$

Hello,

I've recently noticed the following constant process with high wait time on my SQL server instance hosting my Operations Manager database -

Database:  OperationsManager

Task State:  SUSPENDED

Command Type:  DELETE

Application:  SC DAL--DAL QueryNotificationManager

Wait Time (ms):  12090

Wait Type:  BROKER_RECEIVE_WAITFOR

Could someone please provide some insight into this? The high wait time is causing high average waits which result in unwanted alerts from the SQL Server MP. Is this expected behavior?

Monitoring AWS with SCOM 2012R2

Hi,

Just installed the AWS MP (2.5.1) on SCOM 2012R2. All credentials have been double checked, but in the Event Log error 4502 is showing up:

A module of type "Amazon.AmazonWebServices.Modules.DiscoveryModules.CustomCloudWatchMetricDiscovery" reported an exception Amazon.SCOM.SDK.Exceptions.AwsManagementPackException: Could not describe regions for default region system name =us-east-1 ---> Amazon.Runtime.AmazonServiceException: A WebException with status SendFailure was thrown. --->....................................

Now the problem might be that I am in Sydney, Australia and not in us-east-1 as mentioned in the text above.

Has anyone had this problem and got a fix for it?

Thx,

John Bradshaw

I keep getting the below warning every hour on the SCOM RMS server, It happens twice with in 4 mins every hour.

I only have two subscriptions. Can anyone help? Is it a problem i should worry about?

The query resulted in 20795 rows.

This may cause high memory consumption, and affect server performance.
Consider using buffered mode for this query.

Hello everybody
I would like to know how information of a particular server (eg disk status, CPU-State,...) is sent to the management server, respectively Operations database (in which form, SNMP or whatever)?

I'm sorry for the stupid question, but I would like to understand the context.

Thank you for your answers.

Management server and console issues after SCOM database move

$

SCOM 2012 R2 RU6
Windows Server 2012 R2
Environment: VMWare

The SCOM DEV environment was initially built as an all in one solution. This virtual solution consisted of three (3) servers with two (2) secondary servers. Due to performance issues the databases were moved to a new DEV SQL cluster. Since moving the databases the console no longer launches on the "primary" server. Instead it would throw an error about the DAS service not running. In most cases the service was running but in some it would be stopped. Regardless the console wouldn't launch. Steps were taken to ensure both paths in the registry were updated to point to the new SCOM sql instance. In addition the config file was updated to point to the new instance. The odd thing about this scenario is that the console launches on the secondary server. SQL was removed early in the process. I've since tried repairing, removing, and adding the operations console on this server and notice that I don't see the database when attemping to "configure the operational database". What am I missing?

Any responses appreciated.

Virus Scan exclusions for SCOM 2012 R2

Hi

We are creating exclusions for for SCOM 2012 R2 servers and for clients, refering the doc (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/975931#%2Fen-us%2Fkb%2F975931). Here if exclude just the process Monitoringhost.exe, then again is it required to exclude the SCOM folders (Server- C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\Operations Manager\Server\Health Service State, Client- C:\Program Files\Microsoft Monitoring Agent\Agent\Health Service State) , in addition we already have the exclusions for SQL.

Thanks in advance

Management Server Goes grey

I have 3 management servers in my environment. 2 of the servers are fine but the 3rd one keeps going grey. If I restart the health service it will come back online for a minute and then goes grey again. I look in the operations manager logs and don't see anything that suggests why it is doing this. Is there a place that I can start to look?

SCCM baseline noncompliance to raise a ticket automatically in SCOM

Hi,

Please let me know if there a mechanism where we could alert for SCCM baseline noncompliance to raise a ticket in SCOM.

We have implemented the SCCM 2012 MP and could see that there  is a monitor "Baseline Compliance Rate Monitor". Would this help me to monitor few SCCM baseline noncompliance for few of the servers.

I understand that we need to add a management pack but not sure which pack needs to be installed for monitoring the clustered disks for 2003 Server using the Operations manager 2012.

Appreciate if any one can provide the guide for doing this.

Is there a "master" Agent Healtservicestore.edb ?

$

Hi

Been troubleshooting high disk io on HealthServiceStore.edb and a common resolution is to stop the service and delete the "Health Service State" folder.

This has not worked very well, after a day the .edb is a couple of hundred MB (350-600MB) and the disk io is pretty big.

I then found a blog post with instructions for esentutl and after doing a offline defrag on the .edb the io is much better and after a weekend the file size is still just ~30MB.

I scripted the esentutl to run on almost all of my agents and it seems to do the trick.

But my questions is if there is a master healtServiceStore.edb on the Scom server that is copied out during agent install or after a cache reset ?
