Monitor; WMI Events
Hi everyone,
I want to create a WMI monitor to alert me any time a certain WMI Query is satisfied. We're using our own namespace, and I have successfully written WMI rules, but this is my first attempt at a unit monitor:
WMI Namespace:
root/Mynamespace
Query: SELECT * FROM __InstanceCreationEvent WITHIN 30 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "AuditTrailRecord" AND TargetInstance.auditCategory=4 AND TargetInstance.auditType=7
Build Event Expression:
description Contains x
Auto reset timer, specify wait time: 5 minutes
Alert Description:
Problem audit trail recorded generated. Description: $Data/EventData/DataItem/Property[@Name='description']$

Questions:
Is my build event expression which uses description (a property of my WMI AuditTrailRecord) suitable, or do I need an XPath expression here?
Do I even need to have a Build Event Expression? What if I want to alert on any instance of the WMI record that satisfies the WMI Query?
Is my Alert Description correct; i.e. is the XPath formatted correctly for an Alert in a monitor?

Displaying Healthy States in a State View for CPU/Memory/Disk
Hi All,
I'm trying to create a State view with fields like CPU, Memory, Disk showing "Healthy" (green tick box) or "Critical" (red x)
From what I can see you can Author custom Attributes but it only allows for discovery method of Registry/WMI.
I tried a few of the custom dashboards but I'm not quite getting the result I'm after.
Am I going about this the wrong way?

Recovery Task - Status
Running a recovery task of recycling IIS Pool when the memory or processor goes over a certain threshold of recycling IIS Pool using command %windir%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd.exe recycle apppool /apppool.name:"xxx"
I have enabled logging on the application pool and can see it in the system event log "WAS" when the command is run manually but don't see this entry when it is run through SCOM.
How can I be sure if this recovery task has run successfully?

Segmenting the SCOM DB after the installation of the first MS
Hi,
I've created multiple DB files for my SCOM OpsMgr and DW DBs, but I've done this after the installation of the first management server, not prior to it. Could this be a problem? Is it a must to first define the number and size of the DB files and then install the MS? Or this doesn't matter and I don't have to worry about it?

SCOM 2012 R2 - UR7
Hi,
Somehow my Management servers in prod and also the DB servers running Windows 2012R2 and SCOM 2012R2 had their Windows update set to Automaticand Give me all the other downloads as well !!! (sigh). So it was yesterday I noticed that and also found that UR7 had been installed. (I haven't run the extra SQL scripts yet though).
Now I haven't noticed any real problems, but I did note from some forums that UR7 has not been released yet, or rather that it was pulled in late July for a future release.
Question: Have I in fact got the dodgy version? Or is it entirely fortuitous that MS have released the fixed version yesterday??
How can I tell?

Logical disk discovery SCOM 2012
Hello,
After importing new Windows OS MP 6.0.7026.0, i couldn't see logical disks which discovered previously for few servers and they show only C: now. I've checked discovery rule for any overrides but no override has been set.
Could anyone help me please?

Logical Disks doesn't be discovered by SCOM

I'm working with SCOM 2012R2 and I'm having a problem in my environment...where the attached disks on some of my servers doesn't be discovered by SCOM, only their OS partition (C:)....logical disks such D:, E: etc dont be discovered.... I want to monitor all disks....I've checked the monitors and no issues has been found...

SCOM 2012 Web application transaction monitoring
HI,
I have 2012 SCOM environment. I have been asked to create transaction monitoring with authentification.
Basically i have url that needs login and after successful login site directs me to other page with special content that only that particular user can view and browse . Everything i managed to do , recording went well and i managed to create that monitoring. When I'm testing (Run Test in the web application editor) everything looks green so i decided to disable user that i was using in recording session and run the test . Strange but run test ((Run Test in the web application editor) again outputted that everything is fine and all url are accessible though user is disabled and second url should not be accessible . I check it manually by putting same user into IE and of course i was not able access second page. So how come scom tells me that the second url is accessible and scom can check second url even if i can't access it on IE. What I'm doing wrong?

SCOM 2012 r2 MSMQ 2008R2 queue is not monitored on one server
Hi,
I came across with issue for one msmq server in my environment.Server is 2008 R2 Standart, I have Microsoft Message Queue 2008 R2 management pack.Server is discovered as MSMQ server but in the all queues view i do not see any queues from that server and if i open health explorer i see green empty circle (not monitored) MSMQ queue health rollup. Rest of the servers with msmq ques are discovered and there is no overrides for the monitor of MSMQ for that server.Any chance that somebody has an idea how to fix it.

The Forefront Endpoint Protection client failed to install on the specified computer alert in SCOM 2012
Hello,
I receive this alert "The Forefront Endpoint Protection client failed to install on the specified computer" in SCOM 2012 but the SCCM team says that the FEP is already installed on this server and claims this alert as a false alert.
When I try to investigate why are receiving this alert I could not figure out where does the SCOM MP checks for this installation. There is no configuration property set in the SCOM Monitor for this MP.
Any suggestions please?

Monitoring of Clustered disks (Windows 2003) in Ops manager 2012:
I understand that we need to add a management pack but not sure which pack needs to be installed for monitoring the clustered disks for 2003 Server using the Operations manager 2012.
Appreciate if any one can provide the guide for doing this.
