SCOM trying to run discovery script that does not exist?

Hello,

I have this alert: Operations Manager failed to start a process

So SCOM is trying to use the DiscoverSQL2012DBEngineDiscovery.vbs on a server that doesn't have SQL installed.

And it is referring to this directory which doesn't exist "C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager\Agent\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 73\72973\"

Not sure how to proceed here... can I please have some suggestions? do I try reinstalling the SCOM agent?

I appreciate any responses.

Thank you,

Regards.

Event 4756 & report "Security Sensitive Groups Changes".

Hello.
When you use the ACS (SCOM2012 sp1) encounter this problem:
In the report, "Security Sensitive Groups Changes" no information on changes to the universal group. If a local group or a global - change data is available in full.
I found the info about the event with number 4756 not correctly written to the ACS database  (table AdtServer.dvAll5).Fields PrimaryUser, ClientUser, ClientSid, ClientDomain not have value.
Can someone help fix ACS to write events to database and receive adequate 4756 in the report "Sensitive Security Groups Changes"?

SCOM 2012 R2 - Update rollup 11

Hello,

I'm trying to learn SCOM 2012 so please beg with me if question will appear silly, I've googled and searched the forum but could not really find anything answering my question.

I've installed a lab SCOM 2012 Management server, simple one server scenario, as part of the windows update I've chosen to install rollup update 11 but apparently I am doing something wrong or am missing few steps.

If I check the installed updates I cannot find any trace of the update rollup, if from PowerShell I do run  the Get-SCOMManagementServer I get version 7.1.10226.0 which should be the RTM version for what I've read.

Am I doing something wrong? Missing any step? I've followed couple of blogs/guide I could find around but none did really help.

Shall I try to perform a manual install from MS Catalog?

Thanks in advance for any help.

*EDIT* Just to add I can do see the updates being installed in the update history and I've also run the two SQL Scripts that are placed in the installation folder.

How does SCOM Trigger Email notifications once a alert is generated ?

Hi All,

We have our customer environment where we have faced a lot of Email notification delivery issues.

The customer wants to understand how really the notifications work in the background (Specifically not the Resource Pool part) As he wants to know what actions SCOM Takes and runs the Email channel / subscription.

I was not able to find any article speaking about the notification working part.

Can anyone provide a link or explain if they are aware how does it trigger  the subscription & Notification channel jobs ?

I am seeing this alert sporadically on 3 servers. I am running SCOM 2012 R2 UR8 and the agents that have this issue have all been installed for 10+ months.  These alerts seem to have started within the last 4 months.  I'll use one server as an example, SERVER1, as the details are very similar on the servers having the problem.  On SERVER1 this alert has happened 6 times since July 21st.  Each time the alert has happened at different times of the day so there appears to be no pattern there.  The events that happen on the server include "access denied" which points to a permissions issue but the same process is running the remainder of the time without having this problem.  Here are some additional details of the issue.

In the Operations Manager event log I see 2 events

First I see Event ID 21400:
Failed to create process due to error '0x80070005 : Access is denied.  ', this workflow will be unloaded.

Command executed:  "C:\Windows\system32\cscript.exe" //NoLogo "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Monitoring Agent\Agent\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 33\2862\LogEndToEndEvent.js"
Working Directory:  C:\Program Files\Microsoft Monitoring Agent\Agent\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 33\2862\
One or more workflows were affected by this.

Workflow name: Microsoft.SystemCenter.AgentManagement.LogEndToEndEvent
Instance name: SERVER1.domain.com
Instance ID: {727B5AF4-9914-3E54-5FF4-657F0C000814}
Management group: MGNAME

Then event ID 1103:
Summary: 1 rule(s)/monitor(s) failed and got unloaded, 1 of them reached the failure limit that prevents automatic reload. Management group "MGNAME". This is summary only event, please see other events with descriptions of unloaded rule(s)/monitor(s).

About 1 minute later I see this in the SCOM console:
The System Center Management Health Service 727B5AF4-9914-3E54-5FF4-657F0C000814 running on host SERVER1.domain.com and serving management group with id {1E4C574B-1344-EA4A-BC45-8A4FEFA43494} is not healthy. Some system rules failed to load.

Let me know if you've got any thoughts on this.

TIA

Also does it change versus IE versions ? I have from 6 t0 11?

SCOM 2012 SP1 CU 3

Lync 2013

SCOM Server : Server 2012

Lync Server:  Server 2012 R2

Followed all the instructions in both of the article below.  I know it is at least partially working because when I typed in the wrong addresses (on accident in both the channel setup and the subscription setup) SCOM generated an alert saying that the address was incorrect and it couldn’t complete the request when an alert was generated.  But now the only thing that happens is the errors below.

http://lyncuc.blogspot.com/2012/10/system-center-operation-manager-with.html

http://opsmgrunleashed.wordpress.com/2012/02/24/enabling-instant-messaging-notifications-in-system-center-2012-operations-manager/

The following errors occur with both UCMA 3.0 & 4.0 installed (I have tried both versions)

IM Channel Settings

IM Server:  Server FQDN

Return Address:  sip:OpsMgrLync@domain.com

Protocol: TLS

Authentication:  NTLM

Port:  5061

Format:  Default

Steps to Reproduce:

Create Notification Channel

Add IM Notification to Subscriber

Add Subscription

Force generate an alert (stopping IIS website on a dev server).  Email alert is generated.  Lync Notification is not.

Running PROCMON on this doesn't find a single thing for that .DLL when using UMCA 4.0

However, as described in the article here:  http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/0dce0c5b-fcec-4ca9-a506-0523088968df/trying-to-send-im-through-scom-2012, if I install UCMA 3.0 and run PROCMON I find the following entries after I take the Steps to Reproduce above. Previously when I had run this I had gotten a ton of PATH NOT FOUND like the one described in that article, but now that I am writing up this article they aren't showing up.

9:33:14.6284984 AM        MonitoringHost.exe        3636        RegOpenKey        HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fusion\PublisherPolicy\Default\v4.0_policy.4.0.Microsoft.Rtc.Collaboration__31bf3856ad364e35        NAME NOT FOUND        Desired Access: Read

Thoughts on what I can do to get this working or what might be wrong?

Error 26319 & 22406 following OpsMgr Database Move

$

Hi All,

I have a problem that I am hoping you can help me with. I have an Operations Manager 2012 environment that I am in the process of moving to SP1. However, it was residing on SQL 2008 which isn't supported for SP1. So this has sparked off a piece of work to move the Operations Manager database from SQL 2008 to SQL 2008 R2.

I have completed the move and from what I can see, it  has been successful. However, now I am receiving, in regular intervals, 2 errors in the Operations Manager event log of one Management Server.

First I see Error 26319:-

Just for clarity I have another question I posted this evening, that is regarding a separate management group to this one.

All Management Servers Resource Pool Critical

$

Hi,

I've removed a management server from my management group the way it should: Move all agents to another management server, delete the management server from the management server view in the SCOM console and uninstalled SCOM on the server.

Now I'm seeing alerts that the "All Management Servers Resource Pool is unavailable" and I see the following events in eventvwr with eventID 21006:

The OpsMgr Connector could not connect to FQDN old management server:5723.  The error code is 10061L(No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.).  Please verify there is network connectivity, the server is running and has registered it's listening port, and there are no firewalls blocking traffic to the destination.

I also see this alert with eventid 15002:

The pool member cannot send a lease request to acquire ownership of managed objects assigned to the pool because half or fewer members of the pool acknowledged the most recent initialization check request. The pool member will continue to send an initialization check request.

Management Group: MGMT Group Name

Management Group ID: {E7DF8EEB-0986-7F6D-130A-23F3F7BE8FAE}

Pool Name: AD Assignment Resource Pool

Pool ID: {529CF61E-A357-5AED-73CC-81D48E4327CA}

Pool Version: 2354159849714984833

Number of Pool Members: 4

Number of Observer Only Pool Members: 1

Number of Instances: 1

It seems like the other management servers still trying to connect to the non existing server, any advice what I might have done wrong?

Best regards,

Bert

Which privileges required when Operation console connects to SCOM server?

When I tried to connect to remote SCOM server from operation console, it requires me to input the credential. Anybody know which privilege is required here? I know the domain admin should work, but I do not want to use domain admin here.

The SCOM is 2012, the OS is Windows 2012R2.

Thanks!
