Hi,

Recently we are getting this Error 26319 in our RMS and seems this is causing performance issues in SCOM

Below is the log from Event viewer.

An exception was thrown while processing GetTasksByCriteria for session id uuid:9c08d0b6-1869-4f08-8be9-fa297ffd319c;id=45.

Exception Message: The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason.

Full Exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.UnauthorizedAccessMonitoringException]: The creator of this fault did not specify a Reason. (Fault Detail is equal to Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.UnauthorizedAccessMonitoringException: The user CORP\TXTX does not have sufficient permission to perform the operation.).

Am new to scom and am unable to find why this ID, "corp\TXTX  is generating this error in our RMS.

as well is there a way to find out how many user accounts are associated with agent and MP's?

Thank you.

"Powershell Script Failed to run" alerts from SQL Management Pack 6.4.1.0

Dear Experts,

We have been receiving bunches of powershell script failed to run alerts in our new SCOM2012 environment. Majority of the script that fails are from the SQL Monitoring Management Pack. Samples below,

CPUUsagePercentDataSource.ps1

DBDiskLatencyDataSource.ps1

StolenServerMemory2012.ps1

SQLReCompilation.ps1

ActiveRequestsDataSource.ps1

ActiveConnectionsDataSource.ps1

CPUUsagePercent2012DataSource.ps1

ActiveSessionsDataSource.ps1

StolenServerMemory2008.ps1

CPUUsagePercent2008DataSource.ps1

I see them failing with 'timeout expired' error and wanted to check in here, if anybody have been facing this issue and found a solution for it. Is increasing the timeout the only way to get rid of this?

These monitors run every 300 seconds and script times out after 200 seconds.

Appreciate your help. Thank you

Regards,

Saravanan

SCOM 2012: Multiple CSV alert rule on single csv file not working

Hi,

I have 3 CSV alert rule that monitor a single csv file say alert.csv.

I use 3 rules to generate alerts with different severity (Critical, warning, Information) based on a column of the csv file.

But i always get alert from 1st rule alone, other 2 rules never generate the alert even if the data is matched.

Is monitoring single file with multiple rules in not possible in SCOM?

How can further check this permission problem?

Hi,

i am using SCOM 2012 R2 and tried to test the Unit Monitors (Authoring --> monitors --> create a unit monitor) in my test environment.

the goal is to achieve an automatic restart of a monitored service, if it stops.

As result I got an alert via scom, but the service will not start automatically although I've created a recovery task.

Please help!

I have a brand new install of Windows Server 2012 R2, SCOM 2012 R2 with all the latest windows updates available.  Whenever I go to the authoring/overrides section I get a pop-up dialog re: the Microsoft .NET framwor / unhandled exception "A generic error occurred in GDI+ - Also my 'scope bar' has a red X through it - see screen shot.  I can continue, and use the console, but it's annoying.

Any ideas?

Run As Account for Web Application Availability Monitor - SCOM 2012

Hi everyone,

I'm having a problem running a web application availability test using the built-in Web Application Availability Management Pack. It's testing a website that requires domain authentication. When running the test, it errors out with an HTTP 401: Unauthorized. I've set the run as account to a domain account, in the profile "Microsoft.SystemCenter.WebApplicationSolutions.RunAsProfile.Configuration", but the test still will not successfully complete. Unfortunately I can't post pictures at this time, as my account is not verified.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Cluster Disk Free Space % Performance Data

I am unable to view any of the Cluster Disk Capacity "Free Space (%)" Performance Values. I do so many items regarding "Free Space (MB)" but none for "Free Space (%)". I am running SCOM 2012 CU4 with the Windows MP version 6.0.7061.0. I checked the Performance Rule collections for both of the above items for the item "Cluster Disk" and "Logical Disk" for all the different OSs. They were all enabled and set to run at the default schedules.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Reuvy

SCOM 2012 Discovery Error

When I run the "Discover the Windows Server 2008 R2 Cluster Components" task on two nodes of a specific cluster, it fails with the following output:

"Data was found in the output, but has been dropped because the Event Policy for the process started at 3:54:44 PM has detected errors.

The 'ExitCode' policy expression:

matched the following output:

When I run the script manually with the parameters passed above, it's immediately obvious that there are too many parameters being passed to the script.  If I run it with the following parameters, it runs fine:

c:\temp>cscript /nologo Microsoft.Windows.Server.2008.Discovery.Probe.vbs {2befc419-be49-00dd-d277-b8c0f1cd0dd5} {6e300fbc-ddfb-da7b-4dae-337c34fba109} ALN507.contoso.org ALN507 6.1

Why is the discovery task passing the wrong parameters, and how can I correct it?  I haven't had any trouble using that task to discover other cluster resources, so I'm not sure why it's failing for this cluster.

Web Application Availability Monitoring & Transaction Response Time

Our web team is receiving alerts for Transaction Response Times from recently configured monitoring using the Web Application Availability Monitoring template but it appears they should not because of both transaction response time boxes being unchecked (see below).  The subscription is using "Notify on all alerts raised by an instance with a TestWebSite [All Management Servers Resource Pool] name" where the name correlates to a test under the Web Application Availability Motoring.  Clearly our understanding is lacking.  Curious what we might be missing, where the alerts are being generated from and how to disable or adjust threshold via overrides if it isn't on the screen noted below.

SCOM2012 and Windows 2003 print server queues

$

Using SCOM2012 is there a way to get the print queue state for queues on a Windows 2003 based printer server.

I have a mixed environment of 2008 and 2003 print servers. Both types are recognized and show up in the Printer Server State but only for the 2008 based servers, I can get a list of the print queues (and the state they are in).

I'm using the Windows 2012 MP + the 2007 MP for Windows 2003 based servers.

SNMP Network Device Discovery not working

$

Hello

I have a LAB setup with SCOM 2012 R2

I have

1 x  Management Server
1 x SQL DB Server (The SCOM DB Server)
1 x  Windows 7 Computer
1 x Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller (i.e. test LAB domain)

I do not have a network device (e.g. cisco switch etc.) but want to learn/try/test SNMP discoveries in the LAB.

So installed and configured SNMP on the DC (no SCOM Agent the DC) and setup the relevant Read-Only community string.

I also installed SNMP on the Windows 7 Server using the same Read-Only community string

I installed an SNMP MIB Brower utility on the Windows 7 computer, loaded the HOSTMIB.MIB from the C:\Windows\System32 directory on the DC

I can now use query the DC from the Windows 7 computer using SNMP e.g. get the UpTime for the DC for example. Therefore I know SNMP is setup and responding to Get requests on the DC using the community string I used for this test.

I installed the SCOM Agent on the Windows 7 computer and all looks OK (green healthy no errors in the Operations Manager log, on either the Windows 7 computer of the Management Server).

Using the Discovery Wizard I went through the motions of setting up a Network Device discovery (I created a RunAs account which uses the same community string as the Windows 7 computer and the DC). I entered the IP address of the DC as the device I want to discovery etc..)

All appears to be working in as much as the discovery runs with no errors (has run twice now) there are no errors in the Operations Manager logs and the RunAs account is distributed.

However I am not seeing the network device appear under network devices or discovery inventory "network device"

I have also checked under "pending management" for Network devices nothing there

Any advise most welcome please

Override Summary View .. Blank

Hello,

I launch the Operations Health Explorer, and I am able to see all the monitors, disabled and enabled. However, when I go to the Overrides Summary, the view is blank.

Exact same issues as this question here, http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/e5e4d62d-5883-4957-a8b2-b60f80cfb900/overrides-visible-in-overrides-report-but-not-in-overrides-summary?forum=operationsmanagerauthoring. However trying the fix suggested:

  • Incrementing MP
  • Importing MP

This did not fix the issue.

There are other machines that are in the MP and when launching their Overrides Summary, the enabled/disabled overrides are present in the view. So it appears it is only this one machine..

Any ideas?

At this point, I am thinking I will need to remove the SCOM agent off the machine and re-install. Please note, this is a UNIX machine.

Thanks.

SCOM 2012 Network Discovery force SNMP v1

$

I'm already monitoring some network equipment using SNMP. Created a discovery rule that includes the specific devices and that works. Now I'm adding an UPS to the discovery and that machine isn't discovered. After running WireShark I noticed that it's only trying to discover the device on SNMP v2c and not on v1.

This device only responds on v1 requests. If you send a v2 request it just doesn't reply. This behavior you see in WireShark. Only requests are sent to the device and no response. When I use a  MIB browser and force it to use v1 I can retrieve everything I need.

So what I did was export the "Network Discovery Internal" Management Pack. Open it with XML Notepad and change the version for this specific device from AUTODETECT to V1. Import it back in and still the same result. The console only shows it as a v1 device (see example), but WireShark shows that it's still tries it only on v2. So this might not be the way to force it.

I can find some posts that you can change the version after it's discovered, but that is more if the device is discovered as v2 and traps only work on v1. That doesn't apply here as this device isn't discovered at all. All other information implies that if discovery fails on v2 it should fail back to v1. But that is not what WireShark shows.

Anyone an idea?
