Hi,
I've created a dashboard views but it is a separate views and no relation to each views. Technical team is asking to create dashboard view when click on one server it has to show the dashboard related to that server.
Is there a way to achieve this?
Regards,
Vijay
Create SCOM dynamic group with the list of servers that are non domain .
we have set of non domain servers in our environment .Authentication for these servers is done through the certificates .
Instead of manually add the servers to the group I want to create a dynamic group .
Please suggest
Hello technet techies... I've got an issue where we have a SCOM Management Group (on prem) successfully connected to our Azure Log Analytics workspace where as a POC we've added the Service Map solution. The first two machines we deployed the dependency agent to (necessary for service map to function) have appeared in the service map solution but all subsequent machines have not- and I can't for the life of me see why... I understand the following prereq's: - OMS agent must be deployed first (I've done this by deploying directly from SCOM to ensure correct GUID) and dependency agent second- this is the case for both working and non working machines. - Service Map is only available in the West Europe region - this is selected. - The Service Map solution is correct associated with the same Workspace/Subscription/Resource Group for which the SCOM management group is added. - Weare using the free subscription and I know this limits the allowed machines in service map to only 5, but of course this doesn't explain why we can only see two.. - Local settings are all the same i.e. services for MMA and Dependency agent are all up and running, talking to Azure via the scom management group. - Firewall settings are the same for both working and non working machines and are managed by the same on domain GPO's Below are settings taken from one server we can see in service map and one that isn't showing... Probably missing something obvious but I'm a newby to Log Analytics so apologies. Many thanks. |

Hi,
I want to monitor a windows service that randomly stops working though the Windows Service is still in running state. In this case it also stops writing events to the event log.
I would like an SCOM alert in this case. How can I achieve this?
Thanks for any advice
John
P.S. My perfect solution would be if SCOM creates a memory dump for the service in this case and also restarts it automatically.
John
How do I remove and active alert which has become 'orphaned'.
The alert states "An object of type MonitoringAlert with id fafa7d12-9c26-458f-bb14-cee7b1690ffb was not found.
The Message body is as follows :-
Note: The following information was gathered when the operation was attempted. The information may appear cryptic but provides context for the error. The application will continue to run.
Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Common.ObjectNotFoundException: An object of type MonitoringAlert with Id fafa7d12-9c26-458f-bb14-cee7b1690ffb was not found.

Any ideas on how to clean up this event would be most appreciated.
SCOM Version 2007 R 2
Hi,
We are upgrading an old 2012 R2 environment to 1807. When we start the upgrade for 1801 we have a strange problem.
As we know the installation wizard prompts for the DAS account during MS upgrade. What we discovered was that the wizard returns failure when checking if the account is local admin. We double-checked this and through domain group membership the DAS *is* in fact local admin. The fix for this was to explicitly add the DAS to the local administrators group on the MS.
I wonder if somebody else has seen this behavior and if this is a bug in the installation wizard?
Thank you.

Hi guys,
My OperationsManager database seems to never stop increasing in size. It's currently at 145Gb with just 240 agents and I've knocked it down to 3 days retention. I only have the standard management packs installed (Windows Server, SQL, AD, DHCP etc.
And before you mention it - yes, the management packs are configured correctly.
I've been dealing with this issue for several weeks. When I ran the SCOM Sizing Spreadsheet, it estimated my OperationsManager database would be approx. 70Gb for 500 agents. But it's now double that size with half the agents. To give you an idea, my Data Warehouse Database is only 200Gb.
When I run a force groom "exec p_partitioningandgrooming" it only clears up 1Gb or so. Right now I'm running with 6Gb of free space in the 145Gb of data.
I should mention the database is running in an SQL 2016 Always On Availability Group, and I did remember seeing something a little while ago that there was some issue with SQL 2016 - but I've been unable to find the article again.
Can anybody shed some light on why for what appears to be so few agents, with only a handful of correctly configured management packs, and no agents storming alerts - why the database is so big? This is getting out of hand.

Afternoon,
Can someone please share info from their successful implementation or point me to a document for successfully installing and using the SCOM console in a citrix environment? We have approx two dozen users of the console and would like to move them to using the console via a published citrix app instead of having to maintain the console/updates on individual workstations.
Our Citrix admin was able to successfully install the console on the citrix server but when we went to do the steps to publish it, it has issues with the dot . in the application name: Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Monitoring.Console.exe and would not proceed past that point. We tried renaming it to console.exe but it would fail at each launch.
Assistance and info is greatly appreciated!
Tony
Hi
SCOM 2016
Is there a report in SCOM 2016 that will give me the health check of the application, server, and DB

Hi
I created a group Windows Computer in SCOM e.g "ALL Servers Production" and everything is fine
and then I created as notification - subscriber criteria and pointing to the "ALL Servers Production"
I received notification via email , but I noticed some of the instance of that servers is not populating
I mean is NOT populate the other types of objects like Hard drives, SQL components, Cluster objects, domain.local, etc.
So my notification , it not accurate because some of the instance is not populate
I see this article as well but no luck - https://community.squaredup.com/answers/question/create-scom-group-with-all-instances-and-object-related-to-the-windows-computer/
Please advise

I have SCOM 1807, (upgraded from 2016, via 1801) installed and working without issues, but if I look in the Administration section of the SCOM console, under Operations Manager Products the first server I installed is not showing listed at all. The 2 subsequent management servers, and the reporting server are listing fine, but the first sever of the group, which also has the Web Server installed is not listed under either Management Servers or Web Servers.
Has anyone come across this and managed to get the server listed correctly?
Hello all,
A significant issue has been observed since SCOM 2016 was deployed last month. Any help will be much appreciated. Please advise.
It looks like SCOM Healthservice is constantly streaming data from every server it is running on. Why is it constantly streaming data so much ? We have one server streaming at 16MB/s. Adding this for every server, we have a huge problem.
In the last month Tintri datastore has gone from 16k IOPS average to 50k IOPS average. This is a growing trend.
Combined IOPS for all 4 VMstores is over 160K IOPS
