Missing the server name and event number in Notification Alerts

Hello,

I am missing the server name and event number for alerts:

Why the fields "Logging Computer" and "Event Number" remain empty?

What is going wrong?
The subscription is on a monitor, the description on the alert view is showing the server name... in the path field....

High CPU Utilization due to Monitoringhost.exe SCOM 2007 R2

CPU utilization on two servers is shooting upto 100% in regular intervals having win2008r2 sp1, hotfix mentioned by kevin does not apply to this version, tried almost everything however issue still persists, kindly suggest.

SCOM 2012 R2 Network Monitoring error

Hi Gurus

I am having a weird issue with SCOM network monitoring. I previously discovered and monitored network devices using recursive network discovery. Today I suddenly discover that all my network devices under Administration-->Network Management-->Network devices are all gone!!! So I use the discovery rule that I previously had, re-ran it on one of the core switches, the previously discovered column displays the same number of network devices as there were previously but the network devices option is still empty. The core switch that I ran the discovery on is now under network device pending management and the error being no response SNMP. If I want to delete that core switch from pending management, I get the error "An object of class MonitoringConnector with ID xxxx was not found". I can also see an internal connector named network devices pending management. I can't see anything else related to network devices under internal connector. How can I resolve this issue and start monitoring the network devices again, I am completely stumped!!!

As an idea, if I delete the internal connector, try deleting the device pending management, delete the discovery rule and try rediscover the network device, will that work? I am a bit scared that if I delete the internal connector, I cannot recreate it. I also want to know that whether I can delete the network device pending management by running SQL queries on the SCOM Database? 

Please help, any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

SCOM 2012 SP1 Test environment - "New View" is greyed out?

I'm new to SCOM....

I just created a SCOM 2012 SP1 test environment, but for some reason the "New View" button is greyed out. (I attached a screenshot) 

I can't figure out why and it pretty frustrating. I'm assuming it is a permissions issue, but I can't figure out how to get this feature enabled.

any assitance is greatly appreciated.

Hello All,

I am able to run some reports from SCCM 2012 console but few of them do not work.

Error in SCOM console when I try to run the report

An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Query execution failed for dataset 'Data_Warehouse_Main'. (rsErrorExecutingCommand) For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors

When i log on to report server and try to run same report using  browser, here is the error I get

An error occurred during client rendering. An error has occurred during report processing. Query execution failed for dataset 'Data_Warehouse_Main'. The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'Win7MemorySufficiencyReport', database 'OperationsManagerDW', schema 'dbo'

So where do we need to change the permissions and for what account?

Also why some reports are running with same permissions and not others?

Remove network device inventory from SCOM database

Hello Gurus

I have a quick question. I think one of the internal connectors in my SCOM environment has got deleted by mistake. As a result all the network devices that were being monitored previously has now disappeared. I believe because they were present in the database, I can't discover them now. Is it possible somehow to list those network devices from the database, and then delete them, by using powershell and/or SQL.

Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

SCOM 2012 repair and rebuild

Hello Gurus

I have a quick question. I have a SCOM server that is giving me weird errors, I have already posted the question at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/b034c553-c1b9-4152-bb77-d9a29906d25c/scom-2012-r2-network-monitoring-error?forum=operationsmanagergeneral#b034c553-c1b9-4152-bb77-d9a29906d25c but no answers :(

I would have loved to troubleshoot the error but since time is running out, I am thinking maybe to re-install the server. Every other component of SCOM is working, so I was wondering, is it possible for me to keep the other settings and configuration of SCOM in the new SCOM installation. I want to retain the following specifically:

  • Management pack and their customization
  • The workgroup server management certificate 
  • Server inventory
  • Overrides
  • Reporting and analysis service
  • Web console configuration
  • Account and run as profile configuration.

Alternatively, I am okay if I can only get rid of the network device inventory from the database. I believe the issues that I am facing are because of rogue records of network devices in the database. I am okay with removing them and starting the discovery of the network devices again.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

SCOM 2012 R2 console doesnt refresh alerts when they are triggered.

Hi all,

We have recently upgraded to SCOM 2012 R2 and we were very happy about the performance improvements. Now about 2 months after the upgrade we have noticed that our SCOM console is refreshing very slow. Right click + refresh doesn't help. Only change to another view and back helps. 

We see a lot of new alerts appearing when changing from view and back. The only big change we have implemented was adding a connected scom mgmt group. But even if some views were are no connected alerts in, we notice the lack of refreshing the view.

How can you troubleshoot the refreshing of the scom 2012 R2 console ?

SCOM Web Console still display old alerts

Hi,

I have a problem with SCOM 2012 R2 Web console. We decide to use it for monitoring lvl 1 and we did not want to display old alerts in the Active alerts view. We changed the settings AlertsDaysBefore in the web.config file to set it to 1 but we still have some alerts 4 to 60 days old displayed in the WebConsole.

Do you have and idea about this issue?

SCOM Network Discovery - Duplicate nodes with different Device Keys (MAC address)

We have deployed SCOM 2012 SP1 for server and network monitoring. In the "Network Devices" view, there are few duplicate node entries for the same device. When i look at the details of each entry, the device keys (MAC address) are different. for example, if there are 3 entries for the same device, only one will have the correct MAC address and remaining 2 are incorrect.

Have anyone came across such issue? Any solution to avoid the duplicates?

Purchasing a digital certificate for SCOM usage

I am having problems with certificiates for SCOM (based on our infrastructure I believe not SCOM) and have asked some questions on it below -

Digital certificate issues

However I would like to break out one question and that is if I dont want to (read cant) use an internal CA at the moment where can I purchase two certificates for SCOM MS and gateway? When I look on the obvious sites such as Entrust and Thawte for instance it seems easy to order a web SSL certificate for instance but how would I go about ordering the type I need and what sort of information would I need to provide?

Windows 7 Client Operating Systems (Aggregate) reports not working

Hello All,

We are using Windows 7 Management pack in SCOM 2012.

We tried running reports in Widnows 7 Client OS (Aggregate) MP.

There is no data in the report. Do we need to enable any rules to collect data for these reports?

We need Memory related reports in this MP.

We have windows 7 agents and we can performance data in OPS console for those agents.

SNMP Certified Devices

I have enabled Network Discovery in SCOM 2012 R2 and it has located many devices that are labeled as "certified". I would expect a certified device to have enhanced monitoring, not just basic up down monitoring, but that is all I see. Currently it shows certified for our Audiocodes Mediant 1000 gateway, TrippLite SNMP webcards and some others.

What exactly does "certified" mean and is there a list of device and monitors that should be available for each device? I would like to monitor call data on the Audiocodes device, but all I see are network interfaces. I need to monitor battery levels and runtime on the TrippLite device, but all I get is a basic interface up/down option. Just curious if I am missing something in the configuration.

Next step I guess is to figure out how to create my on profile for monitoring.

Hello,

For a Multi-Homed Agent what are the permissions required by both MOM Actions and SDK Service accounts on the clients versus both RMS Production and Tests, versus both accounts on the Client.

System Center Data Access service is running under SVCMOMSDK for Prod and Local System for Test

System Center Management ServiceLocal System is running under Local System for Prod and Test

System Center Management Configuration is running underSVCMOMSDK for Prod and svcTMOMSDK for test

Should I change the account running System Center data Access on Test to use a domain account? because it is multihomed?

Red agents without associated alerts

Hi

I have some servers which are in red state. When going to "Health Explorer", and  to "state change event" tab I can see an alert in the lower part of the form(details section). The alerts are related to 24 days ago and I am sure they are resolved, yet the monitor has not turned green and also I can not see this alert in Alerts section of Monitoring view.

For instance, it is said the run as account associated with .. profile is not distributed to this computer, but I am sure it is distributed and this alert is for 24 days ago when I was setting this profile. What should I do to correct the issue?

I am using Green Machine to reset health of the monitors but it throws many warnings that "Agent/instance is in uninitialized state". I am confused.

I must add the point that I have 2115 warnings and my server stays behind  from doing its job but not for 24 days.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Change Password from SCOM Web Console

hello all,

I've installed SCOM web console and some managers in other domains are connecting this console to monitor the state of the service (I have defined the domain users for them to access SCOM server in my domain). now one of them asked me how can I change the password from this console and i didn't find a way. does somebody know? thanks alot in advance

alert "Power sub-system degraded or failed" won't close automatically after power restores

we have SCOM R2 and HP server in use.

we installed HP server MP.

each server has two power suppliers, one to UPS,  one to Commercial power.

but there is always Commercial power outage, after which alert "Power sub-system degraded or failed" will arise.

when power restores, this alert won't close automatically.

Below please find alert properties,



there is no "Aoto-resolve" attribute, I suppose this is the reason why this alert won't close automatically after power restores.

but I want this alert to be closed automatically by SCOM after power restores, could anyone help me?
