New to SCOM....Database monitors that fire off multiple samples before alerting

I'm new to SCOM:

I have a database monitoring request where users want the monitor to "fire off multiple samples before sending an alert".

Where would I go in SCOM to handle this request? How can I accomplish this task in SCOM?
