I ran into an interesting problem today. My SCOM servers were reporting no alerts. When I checked the various event logs, I found that all packets sent from deployed SCOM agents to my SCOM servers on port 5723 were being dropped.
I checked the server firewalls, and they the were configured corrected to allow traffic on port 5723 (TCP).
I ran netstat -a, and I noticed that a recently installed System Center Advisor agent was mucking up everything.
After I uninstalled the System Center Advisor agent, SCOM began receiving agent communications.
Now, why would Microsoft not allow their agents to play nicely? Has anyone else run into this, and what did you do to get around it?
