Multiple cscript.exe processes using all CPU on Windows server 2012/SQL
I have a SQL server over physical Windows server 2012 that is runningSCOM 2012 R2 UR2 agent and there are multiple cscript.exe processes using all my CPU. This is a production server so I needed to uninstall the SCOM agent to run my production.
Are there any hotfixes for Win server 2012 or other fixes that I should do and investigate the root cause? Because I found some fixes but they are for 2003 and 2008 servers and are very old.

creating view for exchange alerts only
how do I give access to another group to view or modify alerts for the exchange servers alerts? Should this be done on the web view or the scom console?

I am getting Alerts on A none existing IISADMIN service
Hi
I have SCOM 2012 Installed and it is monitoring some windows 2012 servers.
It was working fine for a few months.
Today after i have started getting alerts stating "IIS 8 Role is unavailable"
When I have look at the server IIS is working just fine (No IIS 6 tools are installed)
When I drilled down in the health explorer I found out the the problem is "IISADMIN service availability "
The server is window s 2012 with IIS 8 installed and the IISADMIN service was removed in IIS 7 and higher.
This is not a new server. No updates or changes were made to the Management packs.
My question is how do I fix this?
Should I override this for this server only ?

Unable to fetch Peformance Report in SCOM
Hi,
I am unable to fetch the Performance reports for certain servers from 5th of this month. Tried troubleshooting the agent issue by clearing cache,bouncing health state folder and reinstalling the agents. But still the reports cant be fetched.
The event viewer logs in lot of Health service module 10103 and 11903.

multiple SCOM consoles on a single machine crashes
hello
I am facing a problem: I wrote a powershell code that switches between open windows every 5 second. open windows in my case are 4 scom consoles opend on a LCD. SCOM console crash happens some times at irregular periods.
In "Multiple SCOM Console Windows Opened Crashes/Terminates" topic some solutions are mentioned that I cant use them. I've spent lots of time to design and show this dashboards and switch window code.
I inserted a SCOM clearcache function in my switch window code to clearing the scom console cache every 24 hours but this operation clears my customization on console and changes opened views and needs to set them again.
any idea?

Optimal SQL Isolation mode?
Hi Guys
Just wondering if anyone knows what the optimal SQL Isolation mode is for the Operationsmanager DB and Datawarehouse?
We occiasionally see some console slowdowns on our consoles, our DBAs can often see alot of locking which may be expected for SCOM, but they have suggested changing the SQL Isolation mode to 'read committed snaphot' to reduce the impact of locking.
Does anyone have any thoughts / advice?

Hi,
I have a sub-form in ACCESS 2007 in which one combo box values depends on other combo box selection. when I selected first combo box and second combo box, everything is fine. But when am selecting second record on first combo box then the previous value on the second combo box is not visible. Can any one suggest me what to do to make it visible?

Monitor Sysvol and netlogon Share availability on domain controllers
I need to monitor availability of sysvol and Netlogon shares on all our domain controllers around 20 in all.
What is the best way for us to do that.
I have seen scripts that monitor share availability but that would mean i create 40 such 2 times script monitors , that is too much of manual work..

CPU Utilization alerting doesn't work
We have a fairly new install of SCOM 2012 R2 and are slowly adding servers. It's going fine for the most part, but CPU utilization alerting doesn't work.
I'm (currently; also tested with 2008 R2) testing on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Full install with one vCPU. I fire up Prime95 and leave it on for an hour, so that CPU is constantly at 100%, but no alert is received.
I created an override for the CPU Percentage Utilization Threshold from the default 95 to 80 and CPU Queue Lenght Threshold from 15 to 1. Nothing happens, alerting works otherwise.

Alerts come through after Server taken out of maintenance mode
Hello
We are still using SCOM 2007 R2 (CU6) :(
some times when we put a Server into Maintenance Mode e.g. > OpsMgr Console > Monitoring > Windows Server. The right click Maintenance Mode > Start Maintenance Mode
we then do what ever e.g. patch server and reboot etc. when the Server comes backup and comes out of Maintenance Mode we get an alert to say "Heart beat failure" and "Server unreachable" e.g. the normal alerts you would expect if the Server was not in maintenance mode.
Does any one know they this happens? is there a fix?
Has Maintenance Mode been fixed in SCOM 2012 R2 ?

Initial alert hits Email Group
Unresolved after 30 mins text sent to on call engineer
Unresolved after a further 60 mins all engineers receive text
Is this possible to configure in scom 2012 sp1?

SQL performance data is not getting collected in DB DW.
Hi,
In our environment, we have 3 node windows cluster on which 2 node sql instances are hosted. One SQL instance is default and other is named. SQL perfmon counters in one of the three nodes is available while SQL perfmon counters in other two nodes is unavailable. I need to have report data for Memory Manager: Target / Total Memory for named as well as default instance. We have created a performance rule but is still unable to store the data.

I have checked above mentioned blog and given the following details:

Power shell script failed to run - reasons for it and some background?
Hi there
I have been receiving some alerts with high repeat count that Powershell script failed to run.
All of them are coming from one server and all of them are related to SQL2012 installation. The following scripts generate alerts:
CPUUsagePercentDataSource.ps1
StolenServerMemory2012.ps1
DBDiskLatencyDataSource.ps1
I am quite new to SCOM and still trying to find my way around conveniently - I would appreciate your help if you could explain me one thing: are these scripts executed locally or through remote PSSession to the target? The point is I couldn't find any of
these scripts on my server to re-run them (and possibly catch exceptions).
The repeat count for past two months is quite high, for 8 alerts between 25 / 80.

Which objects to add for user role
Hello guys.
Have SCOM 2012 R2
Need to create user role for CRM admins, so they can view and edit alerts for their servers.
I choose Advanced Operators, but i'm stucked at creating group scope.
Let's say i want this user role to create rules\override for all objects, which contains in my CRM server. What object type will i choose? Windows Computer? Or i need to add specifically all objects, connected to this server (but they are hundreds).

Database size is increasing and having performance issues
Hello Everyone,
We have two management servers and around 60+ agents in our environment. It is SCOM 2012 R2 version(recently upgraded). Initially the data warehouse size got increased and then we restricted the size growth. Later tempdb is growing in size and filling up
the disk space so we have restricted the growth of the tempdb as well. there are so many error messages in event viewer that data dropped and data could not be written to database as DB is full.
For 70 agents, our DB size is 123GB and DW size is 224 GB.
Can you please suggest me how to reduce the size of these databases or how to perform the maintenance tasks? Fine tuning of monitors and rules are done. We have performed already shrink operation and it is not working.

Recursive Network Discovery - Fails to discover anything other than the starting IP !
HI,
On SCOM 2012 SP1, I am unable to get the recursive network discovery to discover anything else other than the starting IP device. I have applied no filter, I configueed to discover4 ALL Network devices anbd my Starting IP is not already in the networ devices. The discovery rule is set to run manual. I run the rule, it does discover the starting IP, yet all other connected switches are not found.
I found little explanation as to how the recursive actually works technically as I find little documentationa side generic and can't troubleshoot. I know the switches are v2 and it is only SNMP and no PING.
All other static discovery work fine and all SNMP is working proper.
Any ideas or direction for more detailed technical explanation as to how SCOM is supposed to discover the other switches from the recursive feature ?
