Sharepoint dashboards not rendering for everyone

Help!!  Finally have my SharePoint Dashboard web Part installed and configured.  Now I'm having a very odd issue.  It seems that on some PCs the dashboard will not render.  It doesn't seem to follow the user as I have at least 1 user that the dashboard works on his PC, but when he logs onto mine, it doesn't.  It doesn't render for me either.  It doesn't appear to be tied to Silverlight or IE version either.  Its also not a permissions thing as all my users already are either console operators or scom sdmins already.  Anyone have any ideas?

Web Console

Hello,

Seem to be having some trouble with the web console on users computers.

I type the console link into my browser and hit enter. When it prompts me to configure or skip. I select configure.

Do You want to run or save SilverlightClientConfiguration.exe. I select run but after the security scan it says SilverlightClientConfiguration.exe was reported as unsafe

I run it any way and it says it was successfully configured on this computer so i select close but am still seeing the same configure/skip screen. I click skip and it starts loading the console. The left side however shows all the views that are available to my account however when clicking on any of them i receive the following message in the right pane.

"The view cannot be displayed because this computer is not configured for the operations manager web console. Refresh the browser to configure"

Any suggestions?

2012 R2 Agent on Domain Controller - Error ID 1102

$

Hello there,

I am currently seeing this problem on Server 2008 R2 DCs. I've got a SCOM 2012 R2 environment running, monitoring 4 Exchange 2013 boxes, running Server 2012 R2 and 5 DCs running Server 2008 R2. All Systems have McAfee VirusScan installed.

The Exchange Servers are running fine - no problems in Agent communication.

For the DCs, I've set an action account which is Domain Admin. I know thats not the best way, but for now, it will do. The Agents run fine at first (running under local system) and then, after a while, return no information and in SCOM, they are greyed out as not being monitored. We've been able to rule out McAfee, as this happens, even if VirusScan is completely removed.

I've found this article: http://ianblythmanagement.wordpress.com/2009/02/16/health-service-unloaded-system-rules-event-1102/

But I don't have that problem on the server. No C:\program file, just the normal folders. This is driving me insane, as I have no idea, why the SCOM Agent ist acting this way on the DCs only.

Does anyone have any helpfull ideas, where I could possibly look?

Best Regards,

Fred

Show Gray Agent Connectivity Data - WMI error

Hello,

although monitoring seems to be running well and the servers in authoring --> agent managed are all healthy, when I choose Monitoring --> Windows Computers all States under Agent are grey and there are a lot of reoccuring health alerts.

When I check with Show Gray Agent Connectivity Data I receive the following error:

Error Number: 46 Unable to open WMI Namespace 'winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\xxxserverxxx\root\cimv2'. Check to see if the WMI service is enabled and running, and ensure this WMI namespace exists.

Is this an error on the agent or the management server?

What does the error mean exaclty?

What can I do to figure out the error and hopefully resolve the issue?

How can I find what scom group a specific server belongs to using powershell?

$

Environment:  SCOM 2007 r2

Server in question:  Running Windows 2003 Std. (yes I know this sounds crazy)

Why do I need this:  I noticed at the console level we have had server unexpected shutdown events which are not generating email notifications.

Source shows: Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition

Alert Rule:  Windows Shutdown Unexpectedly

From what I see these are all windows 2003 server Std edition systems.  I did a track and trace using our exchange tracking system which confirmed the alerts were not being emailed. Not sure if there is a better approach for this, but not being a sql expert (however I do have someone I can leverage) I am trying to see if I can somehow extract this information using powershell.

Secondary general question:  How can I find out the current size of our scom 2007 database and the number of objkects\servers being monitored? This is prep work for a migration over to 2012.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Powershell query to get disk usage

I know I can get disk sizes like this:

$class = get-scomclass -name "Microsoft.Windows.Server.LogicalDisk"
$instances = Get-SCOMClassInstance -Class $class
$instances.'[Microsoft.Windows.Server.LogicalDisk].Size'.value
But is there any way to get used size? It would be really useful.

Trying to execute manually DiscoverSQL2008DBEngineDiscovery.vbs I receive a vbs error: 'Expected 'Then'

Hi All,

I'm working in the troubleshooting of some undiscovered DDBB instances, I took the .vbs script from the SQL management pack, and when I try to execute it manually I always receive the same error:

DiscoverSQL2008DBEngineDiscovery.vbs(28, 25) Microsoft VBScript compilation error: Expected 'Then'

The line 28 has the following code:

    If oError.Number <> 0 Then ThrowScriptError "Unable to create automation object '" & sProgramId & "'", oError

I'm pretty sure that the code is correct because it comes with the management pack, I copied the correct portion of the XML, so I don't know the why of this error.

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

We are currently having an issue with one of Gateway servers which is not able to connect to RMS server. We had tried re-issuing the Root certificate and the other client certificates as per http://www.definit.co.uk/2012/01/troublewithscom2007r2certificates/

But still we have the same issue. PSB the events being triggered on the G/W server.

Scom 2012 r2 run as accounts more secure and run as profile

$

Im confused about the run as account. Weve created a run as account for sql, if you select less secure all healt systems wil check with this account. This is not my intention because its generating a lot of alerts, so more secure is what i want. But i want auto discovery enabled, i dont want to manually put all objects in selected list.

I asume that if i create a account with more secure and no objects selected i can create a profile, add the run as account and then select a class/group.

example:

for sql server mp i create a runn ass account, with the option more secure. I can add the run as account to de deafault sql action account profile and select the sql group (dynamic membership).

Will a new sql server use the new run as account? provided by the run as profile?

i hope you understand my question...

Disk space required for agent

According to the supported configurations for Agents in the Supported Processors, Memory, and Disk Space section:

Agent

Please refer to the recommended hardware requirement required by the operating system.

Really?  So if the operating system is installed, I can install the agent without needing any additional hard drive space above what the OS needs?  WTH is this even supposed to mean?

Can a support document get dumber than a SCOM support document?

Manually Installed Agent is not showing up in the Operations Manager Console > Under Pending Management.

Hi Community,

I submitted this question because I'm a bit stuck with SCOM 2012 R2, I'll try to explain briefly what is happening right now in my environment,  we have a DEV SCOM Deployment in which all the roles are installed in a single server, this servers is a VMware machine running Windows Server 2008R2.

The Initial installation of the SCOM Operations Manager and all the other components was not performed by me but by a co-worker, unfortunately he doesn't remember much about the initial configuration. So i had to pickup where he left things about a year ago, neither of us are SCOM experts, and we have almost no previous experience with previous versions of this application.

Now the problem that I'm facing is the following, all the DEV Servers are Domain Controllers and one of the indication within the "Guide for System Center Management Pack for Active Directory for Operations Manager 2012" states the following :

Configuration

Supported?

Agent-less monitoring

No

After my first review I notice that our servers were being monitor by agent-less mode and given the above statement from the Operations Guide the only way that we could ever get those domain controllers monitor by SCOM would be by installing the agent on each server, so I read somewhere (Can't remember where) that in order to install the agents in all the servers I should first remove them from the Agent-less node, which I did. Then I tried to use the discovery wizard to get the agent install in all of them but it didn't matter how many times I try the servers never show up.

I read in a Tech Net Article that you had to modify the security settings so SCOM would let me decide if I wanted to approve it or not.

--> http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh212853.aspx

I performed the suggested steps from the article but still the servers were not showing up, not even if I run the Discovery wizard, so I decided to go and perform the installation manually in a couple of servers I was able to install the agent in one of the Domain Controllers, I configured the agent to use a service account that has Domain Admin rights. An hour after I installed the agent I went back to the Operations Console Manager and I check under Pending Action but the Server was not showing up. So i went back to the Internet to try to find out if someone else had experience the same problem, and in one website some mentioned that if the servers were not showing up it was probably because they were still register in the SCOM Database, now I have no idea of how i can check that or How can i remove them from there to have them available again, but what troubles me the most is that even after i installed the agent manually the server were not being recognize.

I went to the Event Viewer and I found one particular event that caught my attention, see below :

Log Name:      Operations Manager

    <Data>MyManagementServe</Data>
    <Data>0x800706BA</Data>
    <Data>The RPC server is unavailable.</Data>
  </EventData>
</Event>

Not sure if this is related to the problem that I'm facing right now, but , I make sure that the RPC Services were running and also the related dependencies too. There's no Firewall enable in any of the servers and DNS seems to be working properly.

Ports 135 / 5723 are open and listening so since I ran out of ideas, I would like to know if some of the experts in this field could perhaps give me some guidelines.

There's one caveat that I haven't mention yet and that is related to SQL, I checked and my user just has read access to SQL i'm not sure if that could affect this but i think is worth mentioning.

My main goal is to have all the servers showing up in the Operations Manager Console.

So thanks all in advance !
