Hi
I have to setup SCOM 2012 r2 but i can't discovering VMware or vcenter.
can any one help How can i manage or what is the management pack?
Hi All,
I have a custom management pack created in scom (unsealed) which contains my custom rules and monitors.
I am trying to create a report in scom which will show all alerts that have been received for alerts contained in this management pack.
I have gone to reports -> Microsoft generic report library -> most common alerts. When i open this report, i am unable to locate my management pack!
Can someone advise why my MP is not listed? other MP's that i have created are listed, but some are not.
Also, if anyone knows of a report i can run that will show all my custom alerts and monitors that have triggered, that too would be very helpful.

Hello,
I am running SCOM 2012 R2 and I want to monitor only one server for HD usage. Is it possible to setup a monitor and an e-mail alert for this one server to monitor its HD usage?
Hello All,
We are currently using System Center 2012 R2 RU5. We have an environment of 275 servers with 3 management servers, and about 30 of them have this issue (on each of the 3 MS servers). I have tried the following steps to resolve the issue on a couple servers, but after a few minutes they return to a grey state.
-Restart the SCOM agent services locally on the affected server
-Repair the agent through SCOM
-Locally change the management group to point to another MS
-Changed the Agent Action account to use a specified domain admin account
-Manually remove and re-install the monitoring agent (including the latest update)
Nothing has yet to resolve the issue. We are not sure when this started happening, but I would say a few months ago we didn't have any issues with any clients remaining grey'd out. At least not any significant number to where we noticed an issue. Ive read through a number of blogs and threads related to the error message I posted with users trying the solutions mentioned above but without any luck. One step points to a SetSPN -I command, but when I run this on the local command prompt, it says the command is not found, so I was unable to check that portion.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi
we have noticed a large spike in disk i/o relating to our scom agents. The health service is constantly reading at around 5-10mb/sec across all our monitored servers. We linked this to last time that we performed a datacentre shutdown. We can see the spike from from the days after the shutdown.I have unfortunately inherited scom from someone else so my knowledge of scom is not the greatest at this point. Any help will gladly be appreciated. We have tried restarting the service on the monitored servers.
We are using SCOM 2012 R2
VeeCT
Now and then some grey agents SCOM.
If I look at the server it looks like the event ID 4503 in the Operations manager eventlog is connected to the agent being greyed out.
"A module reported an error 0x80070057 from a callback which was running as part of rule "Microsoft.SystemCenter.CollectPublishedEntityState.Resend" running for instance".
A restart of the service and clearing the "health service state"-folder will fix the problem.
Anyone no of a reason for why this is happening?
Hi Experts,
I have an Azure china (https://manage.windowsazure.cn) account and i wanted to monitor Azure VMs in this account using SCOM 2012 R2.
I created certificate and uploaded into Azure management portal.
Imported management pack in SCOM 2012 R2 console.
Now when I try to add subscription details from SCOM Administration tab after selected certificate and password when i select add subscription i am getting below error:
Note: The following information was gathered when the operation was attempted. The information may appear cryptic but provides context for the error. The application will continue to run.

Here is the situation:
Modify the maintenance mode scripts so that when it runs on a node of a cluster, it puts the "other node" specific NIC (the heartbeat NIC only) into maintenance mode (and remove that object when the end script runs).
The challenge is that I haven't been able to find the way to traverse the "other node's" NIC card monitoring object, the Heartbeat.
Do I use $node.GetMonitoringRelationshipObjects()?
Or is there another Node class method call?
And then how do I get a handle to put it into maintenance mode?
$SCOMAgent = get-scomagent -ComputerName $MS -Credential $CORSCCMcred | ?{$_.DisplayName -match "$name"} if(($clusters = $SCOMagent.GetRemotelyManagedComputers())) { $clusterNodeClass = Get-SCOMClass -ComputerName $MS -Credential $CORSCCMcred -Name Microsoft.Windows.Cluster.Node foreach($cluster in $clusters) { $ClusterAgentName = $cluster.ComputerName Write-Host "ClusterAgentName $cluster.ComputerName " $SCOMClass= Get-SCOMClass -ComputerName $MS -Credential $CORSCCMcred -Name Microsoft.Windows.Cluster $ClusterInstance = Get-SCOMClassinstance -ComputerName $MS -Credential $CORSCCMcred -Class $SCOMClass | where {$_.Displayname -like “*$ClusterAgentName*”} if($ClusterInstance) { #$ClusterInstance.ScheduleMaintenanceMode($startTime,$endTime,$reason,$Comment,"Recursive") $nodes = $ClusterInstance.GetRelatedMonitoringObjects($clusterNodeClass) if($nodes) { foreach($node in $nodes) { Write-Host " Reached $node to see if this is the NIC?" -ForeGroundColor Green Write-Host " $node.Name"-ForeGroundColor Green #$eventLog.MachineName = $node.Name #$eventLog.WriteEntry("The server entered into maintenance mode $(if($Server -notcontains $node.Name){"on behalf of $Server"}).`r`n`r`nDuration:`t$Minutes minutes`r`nReason:`t$Comment","Information",42) } } } $ClusterComputer = $cluster.Computer #$ClusterComputer.ScheduleMaintenanceMode($startTime,$endTime,$reason,$Comment,"Recursive") }
Hello Experts,
We are finally upgrading from SCOM 2007 R2 to SCOM 2012 R2. Currently we have our DB's on SQL 2008 R2. I would like to know if the SCOM DB is compatibility with SQL 2014.
Thanks in Advance.

Hi All
We have a situation where we could have servers belonging to multiple scom groups and each group could have overrides applied to it. Now question is which overrides takes president?
E.g.
- SeverA belongs to group1 and group2.
- group1 has CPU utilization value set to 90%
- group2 has CPU utilzation value set to 95%
Which one will be the effective value, 90% or 95%?
I have been asked this question and I don't know so wondering if you any one of you knows.
Thank you in advance
Hi Experts,
I am going to install SCOM 2012 R2 and the databases which the installation will create are going to be on a shared SQL instance which hosts other application databases too.
My doubt is as I would be running the setup with SA privilege after creating the database onto the SQL instance, will the setup restart the SQL service of the instance.
Please help.

Greetings All,
I'm facing this alert in one Lync 2013 agent. The problem is the SCOM agent is trying to execute a Lync 2010 PowerShell script in folder “'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Lync Server 2010\Modules\Lync'” but this server is Lync 2013 so this folder
does not exist, due to this error is generated the alert.
I have recreated the SCOM health state folder in order to force all discoveries process, but the problem continues after.

I'm attempting to push a SCOM 2012 R2 agent from the console to a Windows 7 desktop. I get this error:
The Operations Manager Server failed to perform specified operation on computer computer.domain.com. Operation: Agent Install Install account: DOMAIN\SCOM_MSAA.svc Error Code: 800706BA Error Description: The RPC server is unavailable.
I've:
- Confirmed the firewall is disabled
- Confirmed I can ping it
- Confirmed the DNS name is correct both A/PTR
- Confirmed I can manage it through Computer Management (RPC test)
- Rebuilt the WMI repository and reregistered MOF files and rebooted
- Ensured the Windows Installer, Remote Registry, WMI and NetLogon services are started
- Am pushing with a management action account that's a domain admin and domain admins is a local administrator
I'm out of options for things to try. I'd rather not install this manually. I've deployed the agents to dozens of other Windows 7 machines. There's just a select few that are giving me problems like this.

Hi All,
This is the event that I'm receiving in one of my management servers. Does anyone any idea?
SCOM was recently updated to R2, All APM management packs are up to date.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I am developing some custom discovery scripts which run on various agents. These discoveries require their local agent to be enabled as agent proxy. If the agent is not enabled to work as proxy, the discovery then produces error messages and alerts on the management server part.
How do I check if the local agent on which the discovery is running has the proxying enabled or not? I need to check this fact from the discovery script itself which is running on an agent, not on a management server. Because I do not have the SCOM powershell module available on mere agents, how do I determine if the discovery could really discovery those "proxied" objects?
Thank you!
ondrej.
I just receive critical error: All management server resource pool in scom 2012 management console.
Alert detail:
Alert subscription data source module encountered errors while running: Alert subscription data source module was unable to find alerts that match the subscription because of database errors.
The following error(s) were encountered:
Exception Message: ExecuteScalar requires an open and available Connection. The connection's current state is closed.
One or more workflows were affected by this.

Instance name: Alert Notification Subscription Server

What is problem and how to fix it ? I haven't changed any setting in scom !!
Hello,
I want to create a subscription for all Objects that are detected on a Computer.
Do you have any good idea except create a Static Group with all Objects that I searched for that computer Name?
Basically: for a Computers that is a Domain Controller, and DNS I need to create a subscription for all types of alerts: Windows, DC, Agent, DNS to be sent to a person.
Thank you for the feedback
