Can we Monitor Windows Server 2016 with SCOM 2012 R2
Get-SCOMGroup returns error message “The query processor ran out of internal resources…”
Hello everyone, I need a help, I manage an environment with scom 2012 r2 UR9 I recently ran a query via powershell and presented the following error:
The query processor ran out of internal resources and could not produce a query plan. This is a rare event and only expected for extremely complex queries or queries that reference a very large number of tables or partitions. Please simplify the query. If you believe you have received this message in error, contact Customer Support
I used the alternative in my script and it worked:
ForEach ($Group in (get-scomgroup | Where-Object { $_.DisplayName -match $GroupDisplayName}))
However i checked out some 250 error log ID 8623 on the SQL database server, my concern is with the sealed MPs that use this type of query and can result in monitoring failure.
Thanks for Help.

Anyone has experiences this error before?
EventLogs:
The OpsMgr Connector connected to <MShostname>, but the connection was closed immediately without authentication taking place. The most likely cause of this error is a failure to authenticate either this agent or the server . Check the event log on the server and on the agent for events which indicate a failure to authenticate.

Exclude alerts from all alerts view
Hi All,
We are looking to create an alert view in SCOM that gets me all active alerts excluding the ones that are coming from a group of servers. I checked the criteria to create an alert view but doesn't have an option to exclude alerts from a group of servers. Can anyone assist me in creating this view please.
Thanks

Query to remove millions of duplicate Events from DW Database
Hey everyone,
We had a rouge service stop/start around 100 times a second generating millions of Event IDs over multiple days. SCOM never saw it as a storm for some reason and it ended up generating around 300GB of repeating data and eventually killing the database (out of space).
We've added some space but we want to clear out the 300GB of this specific Event ID data over the last 14 days from our OperationsManagerDW database.
Is there a specific query anyone knows to do that? Is there anything that has to be done before/after doing it? DBCC, etc?
I know we can change the DW combing days on events but that would mean we would lose all the Event data just to get the last 14 days of this specific ID so I'm trying to find a way to avoid that.
Thanks!
Remove ACS residuals
We had one server for SCOM, which includes MS and databases as well. We have removed MS and SQL from this server and trying to install SCOM again. We are able to install MS on this server but unable to install ACS as it is giving below error.
Install ACS: Failure (0x00000643)
I have checked event viewer and it is giving below error:
Product: System Center Operations Manager 2012 Audit Collection Server -- An older version of Operations Manager Audit Collection Server that Setup cannot upgrade has been found on this computer. Uninstall the older version and run Setup again.
Please let me know steps to remove ACS residuals from system.

Web Console (Health Explorer) not working somewhat...
I have been running SCOM 2012 R2 for a while and the Web console has been working good. Though now it has failed for some reason i.e everything is showing folders, alerts monitored devices and so on, BUT when i try the health explorer on any item it starts but with a blank page.
Actions taken:
1. reinstalled the Web Console, and tríed all the UR patches. No difference.
2. tried different settings in the internet explorer ( set to IE 8, compatability view, reset IE settings ). No difference.
3. tried installing the Web Console on another machine. No difference.
Any ideas?

Can I disable - Management server action account - after the Agent Deployment
Dear Team
Can I disable - Management server action account (aa) - after the Agent Deployment.
when i want Agent update - i can enable and do that, that ok., my concern is, after i disable aa account will i loose windows component monitoring. below is the aa account description.
I m using separate account for SDK, DBw and DBr
Account | Description | Permissions |
---|---|---|
Management server action account | This account is used to carry out actions on monitored computers across a network connection. | To save time, specify a domain-based account. We recommend that you create an account for this purpose that has local administrative credentials. You should not use an account that has domain administrative credentials. |
SCOM 2016 Management Pack for Unix/Linux
We have installed SCOM 2016 (using SQL 2014) in our development environment. I downloaded the management pack for Unix/Linux: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29696
However, when trying to discover the Linux servers and install the agent, I am receiving the error "Failed to find a matching agent kit to install"
We also have a test SCOM 2012 R2 environment in which the same Linux agent installs successfully
So, my thinking is that the agent is not compatible with SCOM 2016. I've searched, but have not found a Unix/Linux management pack for 2016
Has anyone else seen this same behavior or gotten the 2012 MP to work in 2016?
Limit Monitoring
Hi
I have a number of servers in my SCOM environment were the system owners are only interested in being alerted if the server is down.
To ease the load on the first line team I would like to remove all alerts except for heartbeat or failed to connect alerts.
Does anyone have any suggestion on how in an easy way disable all rules/monitors/discoveries to achieve this?

SCOM 2016 Agent APM causing IIS Application Pool crashes
A few weeks back we updated all our SCOM agents from the 2012 R2 agent to the 2016 agent. The 2012 R2 agents all the the APM installed since that's default and we installed the 2016 agents as default with the APM as well.
Since then, we've found that on a number of servers running IIS, after the servers have restarted for December Windows updates (we only install the Windows Security Only update) IIS application pool processes have begun to crash frequently. Once we re-install the SCOM agent with the NOAPM=1 flag the AppPools stop crashing. The process crashes generate Application Error 1000 with most noting ntdll.dll as the faulting module.
Most servers are Server 2008 R2 but we have seen it on 2012 and 2012 R2. All are either IIS web servers or Exchange CAS servers.
The servers were running fine with the SCOM 2016 agent with the APM feature included until the servers installed updates and restarted and the problem goes away when we remove the APM all together. Please note however, we don't use the SCOM APM and the service remains disabled as is default. (It just gets installed by default with the agent)
Has anyone else seen reports of the SCOM 2016 agent's APM causing IIS AppPool processes crashing or is there possibly a compatibility issue with the December 2016 Windows updates? I have a case open with Microsoft regarding the issue but we don't have a system that we can keep the issue present on since it's affecting production servers and we immediately re-install the SCOM agent with NOAPM=1 to fix the issue.
