Override a rule

Hello,

I have a problem when i try to monitoring Biztalk server. I have a lot of alerts in "receive location" . Some object from received location are shutting down after 10 minutes and they are restarting with a scrpt. When the Object from "receive location" was stopped, SCOM are sending an alert : "Core Alert: ERROR - SERVICE UNAVAILABLE: A receive location is shutting down" for an object who was stopped. Some of them are not important, and i want to disable the alert(Enable - false) only for an object. Can i make an override for this rule to exclude only one object who are shutting down?

Objects not coming out of Maintenance Mode

Hello,

I've got 2 Management Groups (PPD & PRD).  In PPD, whenever I put something into Maintenance Mode (MM), the object never comes out of maintenance mode, even 5 minutes after the ScheduledEndTime!  The only way to bring it back out of MM is by manually stopping it via the GUI!

In PRD, it works fine!  Considering this, my research lead me to the 'Maintenance Mode' rule, whose associated stored procs (p_ScheduledJobsEveryFiveMinutes & p_MaintenanceModeJob) appear to do the required cleanup in the tables.  Their inspection however, has turned up nothing.  The only thing I could imagine happening is that the rule is not running, despite the fact that there are no overrides associated with it.  Is there an easy way to determine whether a rule is firing or not?

Any ideas are welcome,

Thanks,

Larry

Query List of all Schema Views for Operations Manager?

$

I'm looking through what's available at http://www.systemcentercentral.com/download/opsmgr-2012-database-schemas-operationsmanager-db/ trying to find a view that I could use as a resource of all distinct view names. SCCM has this available from v_ReportViewSchema.

I see ViewsView but it only has a Name field, and no column for view names.

Brownie points if someone could help me find a view listing all columns used in the schema views, similar to doing something like select ViewColumnName from [SCCM Database].dbo.v_ReportViewSchema in SCCM's database.

Thanks!

Agent-less monitor issue

Hi Guys,

I successfully discovered a windows server as Agent-less and its showing healthy in Windows Computers group. But what bothers me is none of the monitors are activated in its health explorer except Ping Status monitor. So question is Does Agent-less discovered servers will be monitored only for up/down alerts not for performance counters like CPU, Memory, Logical disk usage etc?

Closed Alert Email recieved from New Alerts Subscription

Hi All ,

Something strange happened last night and I'm a bit confused as to where to begin to investigate the cause and was hoping others may have some ideas.

I have multiple notification subscriptions setup for various different technologies across my SCOM implementation and all are configured to only email on 'new' alerts.

up until this morning this has been working perfectly when at 3am this morning I received about 10 emails for alerts that were 'closed' over a period of an hour from one of my subscriptions.

I checked the XML in the 'Notifications Internal Library' pack for the subscription (all my emails have the subscription ID that triggered the email at the end) and the expression criteria only has resolution state of '0' set

I have also checked the Management Server currently running the Notification Process and this server has been up and functional for over 5 days.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

How to monitor .exe process is running in SCOM

Hi all,

I have to monitor if an .exe process is not running. If not then it should give me an alert.

How is the best way to monitor this? I don't think the process-monitoring can do what i want to?

So my best guess is a two state monitor script with powershell or VBScript - but i am not so strong in scripting yet and what to put into the unhealthy parameter and healthy parameter.

Can anybody help me out with a script for this?

Thanks

SCOM 2012 extract all MONITORS and RULES for all management packs

I got this from web and modified. but the "target" information is not readable like what we pull from MPviewer which it need to extract one by one which is a big task for 200+ management packs.

get-SCOMrule | select-object @{Name=”MP”;Expression={ foreach-object {$_.GetManagementPack().DisplayName }}},DisplayName, Target, Category | sort-object -property MP | export-csv “c:\rules.csv”

get-SCOMmonitor | select-object @{Name=”MP”;Expression={ foreach-object {$_.GetManagementPack().DisplayName }}},DisplayName, Target, Category | sort-object -property MP | export-csv “c:\monitors.csv”

Agents with Event ID 21023 OpsMgr has no configuration for management group / Missing agent certificate

I recently upgraded my environment from SCOM 2012 R2 to 1807. All of my agents are fine except for two that are unable to download a configuration. Pretty much the only events o appear in the Operations Manager event log are ID 21023, "OpsMgr has no configuration for management group...". I also discovered that both servers no longer have a "Microsoft Monitoring Agent RunAs Account Encryption" self-signed certificate, which I assume is the root of the problem. The agents appear to Heartbeat fine, but they are no longer loading management packs, so resources like websites and app pools are no longer being monitored. These two computers are nearly identical as they are hosts of their own web farm, so I am not surprised both are having the same problem, however, they were fine prior to the agent upgrade.

I came across this blog that was dealing with a similar issue. I checked the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\Keys ACL but the permissions seemed fine. I did run procmon while starting the Health Service, but did not find anything being denied.

Is it possible to run some command to force an agent certificate to be generated? We are hoping to retire this web farm in the near future, so a "duct-tape job" will be fine if that is what it takes. Thanks

Disable MSExchangeNotificationsBroker Alert

Hi,

our SCOM 2016 UR 2 says the MSExchangeNotificationsBroker Service of the Exchange 2016 Servers are not running.

A quick look in the forum and the Technet tells me that everything is normal / the MSExchangeNotificationsBroker Service stopps automaticly in on-premises deployments (https://technet.microsoft.com/[...]/jj150489(v=exchg.160).aspx)

Now i want to disable / override the Monitor specificly for this Service.

Exchange 2013 Windows Service -> Entity Health -> Availability -> Exchange 2013 Windows Service State.

But if i disable this monitor, i'll disable all exchange service checks. How can i deactivate this monitor for only one specific service?

Tobias

Cisco RAM Utilization

I used scom for monitoring and I followed the link below for Cisco Devices

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/system-center/scom/manage-monitor-networkdevice-overview?view=sc-om-1807

I can discover the router and can see some performance such as processor and interface utilization

I have a problem and I have a question

the problem is I cant see memory utilization . I see just free memory but I want memory utilization

when I see the rule of free memory I can see the following lines

<UsedMemoryOID>.1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.48.1.1.1.5.$Target/Property[Type="NetworkLibrary!System.NetworkManagement.LogicalDevice"]/Index$</UsedMemoryOID>

which is indicate UsedMemoryOID which indicates it is for memory usage but I cant find it in the performance view

and my question is can I change interface counter from In/Out bound Bits/Sec to Kbit/s or Mbit/s ?

Alert Suppression Event Log Rule

Hello,

I am running SCOM 2012 R2 UR13.  I have computers with either Adobe CS 6, or CC, that often lose their licensing.  The fix has been to run a utility from Adobe to re-license the software.  Since Adobe does not log anything when the license is deleted, I decided to enable auditing on the license folder for when files are modified, deleted, or added.  I created a rule to alert me when the Event Log entry is logged, but it logs entries multiple times.  I added an alert suppression for the Event ID, and the parameter I configured in the rule.  The parameter is the folder path, C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache.  If I set the parameter to "Equals", then the alert gets triggered once.  However, the alert only gets triggered if I physically copy files to the folder, or modify existing files, because it logs only the path and not path\Filename.slc.  If I change the parameter to "Contains", then I can make changes to that folder from anywhere, and it will trigger the alert.  That is when I get multiple alerts for each file in the folder that I modify.  How can I get the rule to alert me once?

Supported Linux os in SCOM 1807

Hello Everyone,

In this page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/system-center/scom/deploy-linux-agent-install?view=sc-om-1801, microsoft mentions that only suse 11,12 is supported in SCOM 1807. Is this mean that we cannot install the agent on linux suse 10? In other words, we cannot discover this OS in SCOM 1807?

Best Regards,

Alireza

Hello Team,

Can we get the Maintenance Mode history of Unix/Linux servers via Get-SCOMMaintenanceMode cmdlet

I have tried the command on my 15-20 Unix/Linux servers but no success.A blank output gets encountered without any errors

Any hint on that?

And how does SCOM decide to take the MM history time window in last 1 month or 2 month or 3 months.Time Window it takes to provide latest MM history

Automating the Monitor deployment on the Discovered Hosts

Hi Experts,

I am in the process of automating some activities done on the Operations manager. Once the OM discovers the host, then OM should automatically identify the type of the host and it should push the respective monitors to that host. Is there any way to achieve this? Please suggest.

Warning event 1207 occurs when discovery target is an agentless managed windows

Hi,

We have a Discovery targets on Microsoft.Windows.Computer. When there is an agentless managed windows (QUAN-SCOM-1), the warning event 1207 occurs:

Log Name:      Operations Manager
Event ID:      1207
Description:
Rule/Monitor "TestSystem.ProxyComputer.Discovery" running for remote instance "QUAN-SCOM-1.scomr2x64.net" with id:"{4CCD0ED1-C9E0-92B7-F208-F5D4A6161C74}" will be disabled as it is not remotable. Management group "QUAN-SCOM-2016".

How to prevent the 1207 event?

We tried to overide the discovery to disable it on special group: Agentless Managed  Computer Group, or disable it on special class: Virtual Server. The event is still there.

Thanks!

SCOM 1801 - REST API documentation for the /OperationsManager/authenticate call missing definition of "credentials"

Hello,

I am trying to develop a REST client for SCOM 1801 and using the docs at the link below:

The docs state for the Request Body to pass 'credentials' but the online docs do not define what name/value pairs to include for 'credentials'.

For example, the API call to get SCOM classes, /OperationsManager/data/scomClasses, include definitions for ScopeData and ScopeDataResponse, but I cannot find the definition for "credentials" for the login call anywhere.

Is the link below the official docs for REST API?

SCOMvs.OMS - or together

$

I asked this question, or something similar about a year ago.  My situation is still the same, neither product installed in my environment.  Azure environment also pretty much the same; there, but not in use.  So, we have around 250 servers, in VMWare, some of which will be migrated to Azure, some of which, won't.  I also understand that the bulk of development funds and time from Microsoft have been in the OMS product, and not the SCOM product.  So, as of today, and please, don't send me to blogs, or articles from 2016/2017, if you were starting from scratch, would you implement both, or just OMS?  The vast majority of our environment is Windows-based OSes, with a spattering of different Linux distros here and there.  Applications are, again, primarily Windows products, but there are a lot of home-grown apps, and different COTS products, as well.

Thanks for your patience, and any advice that you can offer.
