Did Office 2007 for students erroneously allow free access to user data?

$

Hey guys,

I am investigating a strange case in which a client claims that after installing Office 2007 his data was freely accessible via Bluetooth without password. He used a longer password or fingerprints locally and would never have thought that his data would be openly accessible at the same time. He installed Office 2007 in an English version for students on Windows XP, heard that Groove might have been the reason.

Now the case became very important again and I tried to search the Knowledge Base for this weird bug. Unfortunately the support of Office 2007 has expired and Microsoft has removed all relevant entries.

Does anyone remember such an error? Moreover recollect the corresponding KB number?
I would appreciate any clue. Thanks a lot.

Best regards,
Daniel

Availability: UNIX / LINUX

Hello Team,

I had calculated the Availability Report for UNIX LINUX computers but for my 1 server availability is below 100% but

neither the agent is down or unhealthy / Nor the server was in maintenance mode (unplanned) but then also Availability is approx 77 % for last 1 week (26 feb 2019 - 5 march 2019).

I also analysed the Health Explorer to track the state change but there shows only 1 state change forCron job (a Task Scheduler for UNIX/LINUX for certain task or job execution) as the job count was greater then the set threshold the state changed from Healthy to Critical

Any thoughts on how availability is calculated for UNIX LINUX servers. Is it different from that of Windows Computers?

SCOM is reporting an oledb: results error, cannot open database operationsmanagerdw.

the runas profile used is [default]. A check on default shows an account called scom-a is being used. This account does not have access to the operationsmanagerdw database. I guess it is just a matter of addding the required rights. But what rights should be added?

Microsoft Azure HTTP operation has failed

$

Hi Sir,

We have imported Azure management pack to one of the management server. We see that server goes to grayed out state often. Once we restart SCOM services, it comes back online but triggers the below alert.

"Microsoft Azure HTTP operation has failed"

We recently configured subscription for Azure notification, will that be the cause for this alert. Moreover, the solution says to install UCMA runtime, installing this wouldn't create any problem to management server right? Pre-requisite for UCMa is .net 3.5 , shall I install that as well. Your replies helps a lot. Thank you.

SCOM 2016 Network Discovery

$

Hi all ..

I am encountering a strange issue with my SCOM 2016 (UR5) environment with the Network Device Discovery.

The Discovery rule is set for Explicit discovery and all the devices we wish to monitor are included and they're all UPS devices across the org.  The devices are listed by IP address with SNMP Version set to V1 or V2, Port 161 and Access Mode = ICMP only.

I have 12 devices listed in the Pending Device Management all with No Response SNMP.  Am I missing something here?  If the discovery is set to ICMP only then why is it failing on SNMP ?  And there are 2 devices that are correctly discovered using ICMPONLY but also appear in the Pending area with the same No Response SNMP message.  If I look at the properties of these 2 devices it says ICMPONLY, Certification = UNDISCOVERED.  Port Number = 161. SNMP Version = 2 Supports SNMP = False.

These are the only 2 devices that are actually "correctly" discovered, all others aren't at all.

Am confused so any guidance or assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

Which version of SCOM to upgrade to from 2012R2? 2016, 1801

$

Morning,

Is there a feature comparison table somewhere? We are currently on 2012R2, UR12. The plan was to do an in place upgrade to 2016 so that I could attempt to keep all the rules, overrides, tweaks,... that have been made. Then test and make any necessary changes so that I could then move to upgrade the prod environment in the same manner. We could then at a future point do a new 1801, 1807 ?? and move those changes to the newer environment.

I was not too shocked to find out that Microsoft has not invested in ANY tools for the SCOM community to assist in successfully migrating those hard won changes to a new environment! Instead, we are left to our own devices to figure out a method (as in totally recreate all those changes) to put all of those into a new environment. Our environment is small compared to most others, but it is still a huge man hour task and inconvenience to our customers to have to go back though all of this again!!

How customer focused is that?!!!!!

Anyhow, off my soapbox!

Assistance and suggestions needed!

Thanks,

Tony

Agents with Event ID 21023 OpsMgr has no configuration for management group / Missing agent certificate

$

I recently upgraded my environment from SCOM 2012 R2 to 1807. All of my agents are fine except for two that are unable to download a configuration. Pretty much the only events o appear in the Operations Manager event log are ID 21023, "OpsMgr has no configuration for management group...". I also discovered that both servers no longer have a "Microsoft Monitoring Agent RunAs Account Encryption" self-signed certificate, which I assume is the root of the problem. The agents appear to Heartbeat fine, but they are no longer loading management packs, so resources like websites and app pools are no longer being monitored. These two computers are nearly identical as they are hosts of their own web farm, so I am not surprised both are having the same problem, however, they were fine prior to the agent upgrade.

I came across this blog that was dealing with a similar issue. I checked the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Crypto\Keys ACL but the permissions seemed fine. I did run procmon while starting the Health Service, but did not find anything being denied.

Is it possible to run some command to force an agent certificate to be generated? We are hoping to retire this web farm in the near future, so a "duct-tape job" will be fine if that is what it takes. Thanks

Hi,

I have recently installed SCOM 1801 and tried pushing an agent on a test server. When I look at the agent files there are only two folders located as below. Is this normal? As in SCOM 2012 there are many. Also that server is healthy on the console.

SCOM 1801 agent migration

Hi,

I have built new SCOM 1801 infra for our client. We are currently using SCOM 2012 SP1. I now want to migrate all the agents from SCOM2012 to SCOM 1801. How can I achieve it with maximum precision? Coz there are many overrides applied on different agents and I want to make sure all the configurations are as it is in new SCOM 1801. Is there any smart way to do it or manual configuration of overrides and its thresholds is the only option? Kindly help.
