SCOM 2007 R2: Biztalk 2010 MP Application discovery issues

Hi.

I've got some issues and questions about the Biztalk 2010 Management Pack.
We're running SCOM 2007 R2 (CU7) and Biztalk 2010 MP (7.0.389) is imported w/Biztalk Server discovery, library and monitoring.mp. On a side note, biztalk 2006 MP (6.0.6703.0) is imported as well.

There are 2 sets of "BizTalk Server Discovery Account" and "BizTalk Server Monitoring Account"-profiles, and I can't see any fields/descriptions on the profiles which belong to 2006 or 2010, so i've specified "Biztalk server 2010 Discovery/monitor"-Account to all 4 profiles and added a group with all the Biztalk servers. The Domain user in the discovery/monitor account have biztalk rights on the following groups: BizTalk Groups, BizTalk Administrators, SSO Administrators and SSO Affiliate Administrator (as stated in the management pack guide).

All Biztalk Servers in the specified SCOM group have proxy enabled on the agents. And all object discoveries are enabled (by default). After many hours of failing discovery, i've found out that the Biztalk Group discovery object (Run-time role) must be overwritten with the server names, so now i've got the Biztalk group discovered under the "Deployment Views" in monitoring. And all Run-Time roles and services is discovered.

The issue now is that there are no applications discovered. All the "application views" is empty, such as artifact views -"Recive Locations state" and "Orchestrations state".
I've got no clue here. Any tips / ideas, guys? Is there any help in calling the Microsoft PSS Support?

Thanks,
Trond

Hello All,

I've got a strange issue.

I've deployed a server and am trying to add the server to my Management group by issueing the following command:

Install-SCOMAgent -name $OMAgent -PrimaryManagementServer $MS

This returns the following: Install-SCOMAgent : No computer could be discovered.

However, If I discover the server through the GUI then it gets discovered just fine..

How can I troubleshoot this?

Many thanks!

Filip

Hello,

I got a request to extract monitoring configurations setup in SCOM for individual server. Is this possible to extract the monitoring configurations setup for each server?

i tried using MPviewer and override explorer, both are not giving it for server based.

Please help me to get the details.

Regards,

Vijay

The agent does not get the DiscoverSQL2008Discover.vbs script . The XML is transferd for the SQL 2008. All other SQL Server are discoverd ( but i do not have this version on other servers). The ETL logs looks realy strange here is a part of it

I have a few performance counters configured in SCOM 2012 to watch Exchange performance and some of them are showing in different scales. Please see the two images below. One is just a scale of 1x while the other is .001x.

How do I know what measurement is being used here? Bot the counters are supposed to maintain a value under 100 ms. If that is the case for the first image and the scale is in seconds, then I'm in a world of hurt :)

Thanks!

Subscriptions for all SQL-Alerts

hi,

we are monitoring a few SQL-Server-Clusters (2005, 2008R2) in our environment. our sql-admin wishes to receive all scom-alerts which belong to sql-specific alerts.

is there an easy way to create such a subscription?

at the moment, i have put all possible objects manually in the subscription. but this solution costs much time and some errors will not be included in the subscription (but i dont know why....)

any ideas? thanks :)

ASA 5525x monitor shows performance for IF-4 but not IF-7

We have a monitor setup on the new CISCO 5525X firewall.  It shows up generic under certification and not certified.

The monitor will rollup performance info for IF-4 but not for IF-5, 6 and 7.    We are wanting to look at the performance info for IF-7.

We have the performance entity of the entire monitor enabled but no performance data.

Does anybody have any ideas on why this monitor would not work?

Thanks Lance

"Available Megabytes of Memory is too low" monitor only seems to look at physical memory rather than total memory

Say I've got a box with 512 MB of physical memory and a 1 GB page file.   When the box is using 425 MB of RAM, SCOM 2012 will throw an "Available Megabytes of Memory is too low" alert because the threshold is set to 100 MB free for the monitor. Clearly this monitor only cares about physical memory (512 MB) rather than total memory (1.5 GB), otherwise it wouldn't be throwing an alert while using 425 MB.  Completely ignoring the fact that physical memory should be added to the box because performance will take a hit while the box is using the page file as memory, how do I get SCOM to look at total memory instead of physical memory?

Missing Groups from Authoring Groups view

Hi all,

SCOM 2012 SP1 installed on Server 2008R2

I have created groups using the Authoring console GUI. Some of the groups I have created are missing from the view. If I search for the groups they do show up as expected. In a DA that I have created, the groups are also listed there. How can I get these to display correctly?

I followed steps in thread 5463c81c-b337-4964-961d-201ad8f2c72b (can't post a link  yet)

I've also restarted the services and rebooted the server to tray and get it to fetch the correct data set with no luck.

I should also note that the groups that are missing have been included in a DA. In the DA, only the groups that are showing up in the groups list are being affected by actions taken on behalf of the DA, such as maintenance mode. The rest of the groups are behaving as though they are not part of the DA.

Appreciate any help! thanks!

SCOM 2012 DMZ Gateway Server - Agents Not Monitored

I have a RMS on the internal network, a Gateway Server in the DMZ with the RootCA, SubCA, and an IPSec certificate issued as per Microsoft documentation for configuring a SCOM Gateway Server. The Gateway server is showing as Healthy in the SCOM console.

For DMZ agents I've imported the RootCA, SubCA, and issued the IPSec certificate to them as well. During the SCOM Agent installation I put in the Management Group name (there is only one) and used the DMZ Gateway server as the Management Server and left the port default (5723).

Port 5723 is open inbound and outbound on Windows Firewall on all servers and the firewall between the RMS and the Gateway Server. Certificates are loaded successfully on agents and on the DMZ.

The Health Service event logs on the client agents show eventids 21016 and 20071.  They are in a "Not Monitored" state in the SCOM Console.

I just can't figure out what I might have missed. Any assistance would be appreciated.

imported Windows Server OS MP's but they still show as not monitored

I imported on SCOM 12 the following:

System Center Monitoring Pack - Windows Server Operating System

(Microsoft.Windows.Server.2008.mp

Microsoft.Windows.Server.2008.Discovery.mp

Microsoft.Windows.Server.2008.Monitoring.mp

Microsoft.Windows.Server.2008.R2.Monitoring.BPA.mp

Microsoft.Windows.Server.Library.mp

Microsoft.Windows.Server.Reporting.mp

Every server still shows"Not Monitored" under "Windows Operating System" and "Windows Server Operating System" EXCEPT the Operations manager server.

Event logs have lots of entries like "Health Service successfully transferred file Microsoft.SystemCenter.Library.89.cab and lots of others, and the servers show they are getting updates from the management server

What would cause only the Operations Manager server to start monitoring the operating system?

I tried rebooting a random server, and also followed another guide that said to stop the health service, go to the Health Service store and clear the contents as well as delete the opsmanagerconnector.config.xml, then restart the service and see the items repopulate - no effect

Any help would be appreciated!

I tried to add SQL Server Distributed Replay Client SID inside fo DCOM Config but when i try to add the user i am unable to locate the user. How do i go about fixing this error?

I have built 2 totally seperate envinments now and each time they have literally broken without doing anything...we let them sit and monitor without making any changes then we get this error and cannot get around it.

One MS as an all in one server. SQL 2008R2

30 agents in our test domain.

What is going on here?

Event 4756 & report "Security Sensitive Groups Changes".

Hello.
When you use the ACS (SCOM2012 sp1) encounter this problem:
In the report, "Security Sensitive Groups Changes" no information on changes to the universal group. If a local group or a global - change data is available in full.
I found the info about the event with number 4756 not correctly written to the ACS database  (table AdtServer.dvAll5).Fields PrimaryUser, ClientUser, ClientSid, ClientDomain not have value.
Can someone help fix ACS to write events to database and receive adequate 4756 in the report "Sensitive Security Groups Changes"?

Hello,

I am trying to install SCOM 2012 Reporting Server on my Virtual Machine.

SCOM Subscription Alerts...

Hey guru's,<o:p></o:p>

I'm very new SCOM! I've just rolled out SCOM within our infrastructure and I'm working
slowly to tailor our environment. I've only introduced one management pack
(Operating Systems MP) and I'm just getting to grips with creating alerts /
subscriptions! So far I'm very impressed! The one bug-bear I do have though is
that I've created a subscription for every alert and warning that then triggers
an email. I'm finding that some of the alerts are just being repeated as the
issue is intermittent. For instance, an alert might be triggered as a system
has low available RAM... this opens an alert (sending an email indicating so)
and then 2 minutes later the RAM usage will drop back below the trigger
"level" and then the alert/ticket is automatically closed and another
email is sent indicating so - CLOSED. As this is intermittent this is
generating a lot of emails over the course of the day. The obvious answer is
RESOLVE THE ISSUE! :) To be honest, I'd prefer it if SCOM DIDN't automatically
close the alert once the trigger had passed - it would be better if I could
receive one alert (email) when the issue occurs and then have SCOM just log how
many times this has occurred rather than keep bombarding me with emails stating
ALERT - OK/CLOSED - ALERT - OK/CLOSED -
ALERT - OK/CLOSED. <o:p></o:p>

Is this possible gents? If so how would I accomplish this (bearing in mind SCOM is
quite alien to me)? <o:p></o:p>

Many thanks for anyone who took the time to read my post. <o:p></o:p>

Data Access Service on starts with Domain Admin cred

$

Hi all

I have SCOM 2012. I noticed that I didn't get notifications from it anymore. After investigating I saw the Data Access Service stopped. Tried to start it with the SCOM Service Account (part of Administrators group in AD) with no luck. Changed it to local system account, then in the console SCOM would complain that it cannot access the auditing info on computers. Change the LOgon account for the service to a domain admin account and the service starts.

Is that suppose to be like that? where the service needs a domain admin account to function properly?

Thanks in advance

I dontsee any conncectivity issues or any events realted to it like 21016, 20022, 21023. Hence its nothing realted to connectivity.

Need your help in understanding the issue.

Global Service Monitor - Data download endpoint communication failed

Hello,

I have a problem with the 'System Center Global Service Monitor' I configured it and created a monitor for a web site, but it is not monitored. I only get the "Data download endpoint communication failed" alert for the Global Service Monitor. The error details appears like the "Windows Identity Foundation" is not installed, but it definitely is installed on all of my SCOM Management Servers (OS: Server 2012).

Any idea? Thanks!
