$

Hello All,

We are using Windows 7 Management pack in SCOM 2012.

We tried running reports in Widnows 7 Client OS (Aggregate) MP.

There is no data in the report. Do we need to enable any rules to collect data for these reports?

We need Memory related reports in this MP.

We have windows 7 agents and we can performance data in OPS console for those agents.

Thanks!!

I just downloaded of TechNet the VHD of System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2.  However when you bring it online it is in the domain Conteso. I have searched all over TechNet and the web, but there is no record of the admin password nor is there any documented instructions with the download.

Enhancement Request - Add ability to sort columns in 'Overrides Summary' window

When you look at the 'Overrides Summary' view (select a monitor or rule, then right-click, select Overrides Summary), it would be very helpful if the gridview of all of the overrides allowed you to sort.  I don't think there is a default sort order, so it makes this screen really hard to manage when there are a lot of overrides. Being able to sort by the Name or parameter columns would be very helpful.  Even better might be to group the list by the Name (target) column.

ConnectionSessionException

We recently just upgrade System Center Operations from 2012 to 2012 R2.  After the upgrade we noticed that when trying to launch Operations Manager Web Console, we can now only have one session of this open on the same system.  If we try to open more then one session on the same session we get an error.

Active Directory Integration Run As Account Logon Locally

I'm running SCOM 2012 and have limited the list of servers I monitor to a specific OU in AD. I have enabled the AD Integration, and have created a service account that I used to get that all setup. We recently added about 160 new servers to be monitored (different OU) and I'm getting a lot of errors indicating that the service account for AD integration needs logon locally rights.

Has anyone else seen that? I'm concerned by this as the servers that I had in monitoring prior do not have this account with log on locally and yet they are happy.

Hello,

I upgraded my SCOM 2007 R2 server to 2012 R2.  My computers all still have the 2007 R2 agent installed.  Will I be able to continue to get e-mail alerts that I have created from these clients?

SCOM 2012 How to monitor Performance data

$

Folks,

We are using SCOM 2012 to monitor performance of an application running on Windows 7 Client.

We created a group targetting Windows 7 Client computer class. And added that specific client in group

Created a process monitoring template and targeted to the group and specify name of EXE. Also enabled the Performance metrics for CPU and Memory of the process.

In SCOM console-- Monitoring--Process State , we can see the availability of process but when we click on performance view, it does not show any perf data. We tried to create a performance view using the two  rules automatically created by Process monitoring template but there is no data.

SCOM 2012 R2 - Tasks not running and Discovery never finishes

Hi all,

I'm having some really weird issues with a new SCOM 2012R2 install. The issue I first noticed was none of the tasks on the right hand side of the SCOM console that run on a monitored server will complete. The window opens and will just have the spinning green "I'm doing something" circle.

Example: If I run the task list processors on the management server it just sits there like it is running but never returning the result.

Frustrated, I rebuilt the management server and deleted the DB's.  And same issue.

Since these tasks are added with the MP's I tired an older Windows Server Operating System MP just to see if the latest one had issues. Unfortunately I still have the same issue and its driving me crazy

Second issue is the Discovery Wizard is also just sitting there when using the advance option to specify the server I want to push the agent too.

I have tried specifying a domain admin account for both the task and the discovery

Checked the SPN's for the management server and SDK account have been registered.

I have checked the SQL broker is enabled and SQL services are using domain accounts

This is the setup:

SCOM 2012R2 running on VMware Virtual Machine with Server 2012R2

SQL Server 2012 SP1 with the Ops DB on one server and the DW on another

Accounts:

OM_MSAA - Domain Admin... Hopefully gets resolved in the future

OM_DAS - Local Admin on the MS

OM_DRA - Local Admin on the SQL Servers

OM_DWWA - Local Admin on MS and SQL Servers

This is an SOS as I have been given a very short deadline and these are the last issues I needed.

I did install a DEV environment running SCOM 2012R2 but on Server 2012 NON R2 and it works with any of the issues mentioned above.

Thanks Mike

Console Error when changing DA's or Groups: The client has been disconnected from the server.

Many changes to a DA or group result in an error such as

1) "The client has been disconnected from the server. Please call ManagementGroup.Reconnect() to reestablish the connection."

Followed by;

2) "Failed to populate membership and relationship instances"

After these errors, sometimes the change appears to have committed, other times not. It doesn't seem to matter which computer is running the console.

How can I troubleshoot this?

How to remove a incorrect monitoringobject

$

Hi,

I am using SCOM 2007 R2 version 6.1.7221 and have two alerts for two objects that do not exist(IE in this case there is no drive E: on the server reported so hence the diskfree fails). This is causing the powershell script to fail and raises an alert. The alert gives me the GUID of the monitoringobject, the instance name is 'Instance name: Log Disk E:(serverFQDN)' that the script is trying to exceute. The alert is from the Micosoft Exchange MP for diskfreepercentage.

Please can you explain how do I go about removing this monitoringobject?

How to setup Tiering with SCOM 2012 class libraries?

$

Hi All,

I've two SCOM servers installed in two different machines and SCOM will have some alerts. I want to connect the two so that one acts as top tier and other one as lower tier. The top tier will show all the alerts from the lower tier in the connected alerts. From there I'm passing the alerts to external system for processing. I want to establish the tiering programmatically using the SCOM 2012 API. I know of method

TieringManagement.AddTier Method (String, ManagementGroupConnectionSettings, SecureData, Boolean)

Help me how can I achieve this by using the above method.

Thanks in advance.

Recovery task failed

Hi,

I have a recovery task for a monitor which run automatically. Each time the task is started I get following error:

Connecting to remote server failed with the following error message : Access is denied. For more information, see the about_Remote_Troubleshooting Help topic.
    + CategoryInfo          : OpenError: (:) [], PSRemotingTransportException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : PSSessionStateBroken

I have checked the winrm and powershell remote settings and they are fine.

If I run the task manually I get following error code: -2130771861

Does anybody know what this code mean??

The task runs on the RMS and there aren't any remote connections defined in the script. (SCOM 2012 R2)

I'm running SCOM 2007 R2. I can not remove any Views that were created under Monitoring nor can I remove any folders that were created. I receive The server threw an unknown exception. See inner exception for details error.

Create Notification for Cluster Share Volume Disk Capacity

I am new to System Center Operations Manager but am slowly learning. We are running SCOM 2012 R2 and I want to get notifications when there are issues in our 2012 Hyper-V Cluster, specifically when the free space on our CSVs gets below 100 GBs.  I have a notification channel setup and I am receiving notifications on other issues on monitored servers as they occur.  I have imported the Cluster, Core OS and Windows Server OS management packs which have enabled me to see in Monitoring> Microsoft Windows Server > Performance > Cluster Share Volume Disk Capacity the Free Space for the CSVs in a graph, now what do I need to do so I can get a notification when the free space on our CSVs gets below 100 GBs or whatever other level I want to set it at?  Thanks.

Ports to be opened - SCOM 2012R2

$

There seem to be many undocumented ports that need to be opened for SCOM to install an agent. For example, we find that we need ports opened in the range of 5001 to 49152, a range which is not mentioned in any guide that I can find.

http://www.systemcentercentral.com/scom-2012-ports-restricted-environment-open-ports-really-need/

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn249696.aspx

But if they are not opened, a SCOM agent will not always install.....but, sometimes it will !! And that is the part my security guys cannot understand.

The agent seems to install sometimes with 5723 etc open (i.e. the documented ports) and on other servers it tries randomly to use ports like 7009 or 6xxx or 12xxx and so on, i.e. UNdocumented ports.

Are others finding this to be an issue?

Thx,

John Bradshaw

AppFabric Monitoring with SCOM 2012

We are attempting to monitor AppFabric running on Windows 2008 R2 using SCOM 2012.

After deploying the agent and the MP, we notice that the state is showing "not monitored" under Monitoring | Windows Server AppFabric Views | Cache Nodes

Also, under the

Monitoring | Windows Server AppFabric Views | Host Services Installations all our servers are showing "Not Monitored" as well.

Has anyone experienced something similar ?

Group renaming issue in OpsMgr 2012 R2

Hi,

I was wondering if the group renaming issue in OpsMgr 2012 R2 is already addressed.
When renaming a group in the console it doesn't seem to be updated in the database correctly.

I found out about this when I target a scheduled maintenance job to a group which was renamed. After that the PowerShell script didn't work any more. When checking the group name in PowerShell with Get-SCOMGroup I found the old name showed up.

Thanks in advance,

Marthijn.
